EK9 Facts and Myths

Why is it awful?
The EJ9/Ek3 LTL feels like driving a lorry!

Ej9/ek3 3 point turns are easy, in an ek9 it becomes a 10 point turn.

I'll give you that, but my steering feels numb and light compared with my mom's Jazz/Fit.

My ek4 vti had a large rear crash bar not like the ek9 lightweight one. Both cars late spec facelight. My ek9 has zero sound deadening also. Only exterior differences where the head and tail lights, same lips, indicators and bumpers although the ek9 has no rear mudflaps due to the rear lip.

The facelight ek4 dash is the same as the pfl ek9 without the faux carbon. There are two variations of the facelift ek9 dash however. Rear seats are put together differently too, between ek4 and ek9.

I've added a few facts to the first post, keep them coming guys! I've also heard that ABS ecu is programmed differently (it interferes less apparently) and that the PS pump is different (less assistance = a bit heavier steering?) Anyone able to confirm?

There's some truth in the abs ecu being different, my old ek4 the abs kicked in far too early all the time where as my ek9 I think I've only felt it once on track at Cadwell braking and turning into Mansfield.

I can tell you this in few time, I installed an EK9 pump on my EK4.

Yeah, having a "smaller" LTL can make a 3-point-turn a pain. But I would gladly give that away, just to get a better feeling that the EK9 steering has!

Cheers!

here is a useless fact about the ek9, the windscreen washer bottle is smaller!

I know this as when I first turbo'd my ej6 I had to remove the washer bottle to the boot to make way for the intercooler piping, then when I put my B20 turbo in my ek9 I went to remove the bottle and found out it was indeed smaller, then when I asked my mate how he got round keeping his bottle in his ek4 he told me he had bought an ek9 washer bottle.

Great one, I'm going to check mine, ek9... against my lads car, ek4....should be added to the list if deemed confirmed...

Ek9 doesn't has rear wiper and water nozzle, so it's washer tank is exactly like the sedan and coupe.

The normal hatchback, ek2 ek3 ek4, or sedan, ek4 and ek5 with windshield rear wiper, have dual pumps with bigger capacity washer tank.

Interesting, both my ek9s had the same washer bottle, indeed it only has one pump but there is space for the rear window pump as well it's just blanked off.

Normal washer bottle in mine but I don't think it's original it's got 2 pumps in it but ones blanked off.

My ek9 tank was smaller than the tank in my coupe and that didn't have a rear wiper.

Unless it's a preface lift ie a 96-98 thing
