Hi all, New member to the site but have been checking out ek9s for the past year or so, can't really seem to find to much about insurance prices
etc... been driving just over 3 years had a car for a year then sold that as i have a company van so I don't have any no claims I guess although coming up to 3 years with my company and I drive roughly 60/70 k a year without any incidents, would this help my prices?Staffordshire area age 21.

many thanks :)

Best bet is just phoning around mate everyones insurance differs, try a few of the companies on here first and then take it from there

Admiral is your best bet. I was 19 when I got my 9. Cost £1200 for the year. That was with two years no claims though.

If you are looking at the EK9 Type R you will find it difficult at 21 with no NCB to use on the vehicle. If you went for a slightly lower rated model like a VTI or Jordan we have some underwriters that will take into account your company van driving and give you a good price.....Then you could switch to the Type R once you have earned 1yrs NCB in your own name.

Otherwise if you are definately getting the Type R your best bet would be go with Admiral for a year as they will cover you at a price.

cheers for the information guys....
rang a few insurance companies just during my lunch.... on the phone for 45+ mins ... transfered around a few different companies. admiral said they don't insure this vehicle anymore... eventually transfered to Adrian flux and they quoted my £7500 what a joke... looks like no ek9 for me :(. did a few quotes last year as a named driver on my dad's policy ek9- 2k. ep3- £550 . so I can insure a faster car for cheaper it's a joke. don't want an ep3 too common just like every other car. I love 9's guess I will just have to keep searching

I'm 22, live in NW London and I've got 3 years NCB... just got quoted £990 third party on one of Flux's Import/Modified policies, I think the underwriter is Markerstudy.

That was with 9000 miles a year, parked on drive at home and used for commuting too.

also just to add, I've got 8 points as well!

Phone elephant (part of admiral) put down at least 2 named drivers on you're policy. If you plan to use the ek9 as a weekend car put down 1000 miles a year, social/domestic/pleasure not commuting . Having the car garaged and insurance approved car alarm will help lower premium plus paying the full amount upfront with accelerated bonus (pay for 10 months get 1 years ncb) and finally add compulsory/voluntery excess over 1k.
Speak to Sam Brown if he is still around. Let us know how you get on mate
