EK9 N1 Pulley

Hello! I have questions about EK9 N1 Crank Pulley! I have deleted from my EG9 power steering and now i am thinking about lighter crank pulley and want to ask about Ek9 N1 Crank pulley. What could you say, buy it or no? Maybe someone have opinion about this pulley? Thinked to light OEM pulley, but friend say to me to buy new light pulley! ;) Thanks! ;)
 
The downside to the N1 crank pulley is that it offers no harmonic dampening.
The standard pulleys have a built in damper that takes shock away from the rotating assembly.
Fitting the N1 takes away the dampening and can lead to damage on the main bearings on the crankshaft.
The N1 I think was fitted to spoon race engines, because they got rebuilt often it didn't matter about the wear on the bearings.

There's lots of info online about it that can give more detail than me.
I used a fluidampr pulley which is another alternative.

To add to what has been said above - harmonic dampening is not seen as much of an issue in a race car for two reasons - a) engines are rebuilt often as already mentioned but mainly b) the engines are driven hard practically all the time. The problem with harmonics is they appear in a very narrow band of rpm, in a race car you never sit in the same rpm you're either accelerating or decelerating. A road going vehicle on the other hand will sit at constant rpm for minutes sometime tens of minutes at a time - think motorway driving. Think of it as an unbalanced wheel - it will only vibrate say between 70-75 miles an hour, any slower or faster an it goes away. The damper is like a built in balancer of sorts.
 
Okey! And what you say about lightening OEM pulley? See that some people are lightening them, just cutting that 2 ways off, and stays 1 way pulley! And abalance it! :) What about that? :)
 
Personally I'd say the gains will be minimal and not worth the hassle and expense. You'd be better off spending the money on a good set of tyres and brake pads, far more to be gained there. If the car has everything else sorted and this is the last piece of the puzzle then by all means!
