ek9 octane level

what is the best octane of fuel for the ek9? or what does japan sell at the pump??
 
i heard japan's pump gas is 101 (i could be wrong), i run mine on 91 with octane booster, its all we have here in southern california :(
 
Well i use shell vpower, its 95 octane. :) no problems at all.

In Japan:

Regular - 95 octane
Premium - 98 octane
High Octane - 100 octane
102 octane only sold near the tracks.

very cool :) shame in england the only thing you find at petrol stations near tracks is that the price of the fuel is alot higher than anywhere else!

I too use Shell V power (99 ron) in mine and it runs fine, i heard in japan they run 100 ron so its as close as i can get in the uk without buying loads of octane booster every month!

Chris, you forget that some BP stations have Ultimate 102 ;)
 
i use shell v power 99ron! in japan they sell 103 and 105 ron fuel :)i no this cause i found fuel receipts from japan in my car when my ek9 came over last year
 
japan has strick emission high octane runs cleaner. their gas is expensive compaired to ours. us 93/91 works great. :)
 
In many parts of the US we have 93 octane as premium, other parts its 91 octane as premium. Race gas and octane booster is easily attainable though. What is "ron"? Is that short for something? It means the same as octane right?
 
the good thing in cyprus is that we have 95, 98 & 100 octane. :) when i first got my car i used to fill it with 95 but my exhaust pipe used to get really black. now i fill with 100 octane & shes clean as whistle & a bit more torquier in the midrange! :D
 
103 105???? WTH!! how much would they be paying for that in Japan??

We've only got up to 98 here in Perth. But eastern states have 100 now...

Blinx, you must have a hard time there with the low 91 octane... geezz...
 
here in gibraltar petrol is dead cheap!!!

we hve 95 & 98 octane... i personally feel a BIG diff between both..!
 
the biggest difference you feel (well at least i did :) ) is when u switch from 95 to 98 octane. our fuel prices out bloody going thru the roof!! i switched to iridium sparks & 100 octane fuel now. not bad at all. :nice:
 
not sure what ron japan has but higher than what u.k has and cheaper than even our cheapest petrol, know people who bring cars here from japan with full tanks of fuel and just use it, better fuel and saves them money

shell v power here in u.k is ex*****ve but that bp 102 is just stupid money
 
but petrol is only expensive because of that money grabbing Chancellor of ours..soon to be PM - though I hope not.
 
I've been using Tesco super unleaded (99 ron) recently but it's not much cheaper than V-Power.

I think it's 100.9 pence a litre down here at the minute.
