EK9 or DC2- Need advise

Hi Guys/Gals,

I am looking to get a new car n was wondering what shall i go for. i have Euro 4000 to spend. I went today to see EK9 in blue colour which is for 4500 and not sure if i should buy. one of me mates said if i have that much to spend better go for DC2. Ek9 is mint and low mileage as well but as me mate said its not original colour as they never came in blue which is kind of making me think why bother.

What ye all think?? any advise would be appreciated??

They are both fun to drive, looks depends on your taste. I'd go for a DC2 purely because of the additional grunt of the B18C, if you can get a clean non smokey one.
 
Dc2 all day long, to be honest I think it's a better car all around

Yeah I had DC2 before n never owned EK9. I saw one 96 DC2 today as well listed on web for 4000 but it seems bit old.
 
I own a pre-face lift Ek9 and my friend has a 96 spec Dc2. The finish inside the Ek9 is far more appealing to me as I think it looks better finished with the red mads, carpets and red recaro's. This is just me but if I had that kind of money I would spend it on a Ek9. :nice:

In all seriousness they are practically the same car underneath.
 
Very little difference just the dc2 is quicker in standard form, go for the one you like the look of more

They might be the same to you but the dc2 looks better and handles better, had both so talking from experience, if I was to buy another one it's gotta be a dc2 an that's coming from someone who has owned loads in the past

Osaka jdm Your best getting what you like, if you haven't experienced a ek9 then go for that an give that a shot

Chassis is almost identical just dc2 is shorter wheel base and alittle heavier?

Can't beat the original front wheel drive Type R in my opinion. Although it's easier to find a clean EK9 than a DC2 these days, also the B18C has a fair edge over the B16B IMO.

This is true but for a 16 the civic can not be beating for power. I love them and that will never change :D
 
DC2 engine in an EK9 (Y) lol

I am a fan of the EK looks in facelift but out of the two, DC2 edges it with that engine and it wasn't voted the best FWD car for no reason,

Just the Interior of the DC2 lets it down ALOT.
 
Personally I prefer the uber revvy B16B over the extra "grunt" you get from the B18C. All these decisions are about personal preference, try both if you can and see which you like more!
 
Also ask your self do you fancy a coupe or a hatch???? Had a few of both and I loved every minute of ownership
 
Pretty much identical in terms of driving experience and very close lap times. The ek9 does edge the dc2 in the handling department due to a longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs ..This makes a more stable ride.not by much though..
 
Besides the small differences there is also the question of price. On average a 98 spec DC2 is a 1000 quid cheaper than a 98 spec EK9....I think I'd rather spend a 1000 on mods and/or drivers training to be fair. EK9 has much higher scene-tax.

The one thing that the 98 spec EK9 does beat the DC2 on is interior. But the rest is a matter of taste.
 
Yeah i think interior on EK9 is savage. I am seriously confused wht to do. I m not 100% sure :(
 
Seems if you can get a b18c ek9 you'll have the best of both worlds, obviously I'll cost you more.
It was between a dc2 and an ek9 for me when I sold my s2k. Chose the ek9 because 3 of my mates had dc2s, was only one ek9 so I evened the score abit lol
As said, they are so close in practically every aspect so really the dc2 would be the best option because they are cheaper.
