hi i'm new :)

when i turn 18 i've got my heart set on an ek9 or an integra dc2.
thing is i dunno which one to get.
i've got a 1.2 8v corsa at the moment which is unbearably slow so when i get my next car i wanna do some serious tunning.
which car would you advise?
taking into consideration...

ability to tune.
insurance.
looks.
best to live with.
etc.

also if eigther are prone to certain mechanical problems

cheers

Insurance is going to be in the 2k mark for any off them,
EK9 is better handeling but the DC2 is slightly quicker.
I would get a EK9 though as they are better in my veiw :)
James.

Yep, def check insurance quotes mate.
Like James said, EK9 - better handling, DC2 - slightly quicker. Both great cars to choose from though. I'd always go for the 9 just on looks though...:nice:

Where do these 18 year olds get 7-8k to spend on a car :( I had a 1.4ltr clio at that time and was more than happy with it (even if it was french)

Kids these days......

:)

think you need a serious insurance quote before you worry about serious tuning!!

18 years old? EK9 DC2... no chance mate, maybe when your 21 ( in terms of insurance)

Is that from experience?

dude don't start getting into serious tuning right away, the EK9 & DC2 in stock form is more than enough for a newbie like you, learn to drive it like it was designed to & trust me you'll run out of skill before you even use 50% of the car's potential.

when you get either of the 2, take it somewhere where there's a lot of twisty roads & see how wonderful the car is in stock form, your driving skills should match the car's abilities. there's no feeling quite like it when you spank more powerful cars in the twisty parts of the road & the EK9 & DC2 are proven giant killers in the track.

Both cars are a masterpiece! In both looks and engineering, I think both will become legendary. Maybe in few decades from now, EK9 and DC2 are going to be collective pieces :nice:

i am thinking the same thing ek9 or dc2, i used to have a uk dc2 and am regretting selling it lol, am very tempted towards an ek 9 purely because no one else around where i live has one, they are both great cars, equally good as each other i think.

the EK9 would be a lot better car than the DC2 if it had a B18C instead of the B16B engine but now the tables have turned against the DC5 as the FD2 is the better car. :D

If i were you mate id start off with a Civic VTi or a Jordan (if you can find one) Itll be a shade easier to insure.

Plus you will appreciate the 9 so much more if you get it after owning a 9 or Dc2!

^ Spot on....
ive always said this to people too... appreciation of the 9 is more when you drive a vti first

i thought i would be ok for insurance 20 3 years ncb, i was so wrong lol. i am going for the 9 as it is a little more rare. i had a starlet gt for two years so this seems like the right move for a new car.

i've managed to get an insurance quote of about 2k.
thing is i've always loved the jap scene since i was like 11 and now that i can drive i cant wait to have my own. i work around 70, 80, 90, 100k+ cars all day long and i want something special for myself. i've been saving for a few months now and have got about 2k saved up. plan on doin the same until next year when i turn 18. i gues by the sounds of things that im not gunna get away with any serious tuning until im a bit older which is fair enough. think overall im leaning more towards the ek9.
just out of interest how fast is the 9? like are we talking 'o dear lord' kind of fast? lol

cheers for the response so far!

huh, i showed a vti owner what ek9's go like outta bristol couple days back, he got owned:D
What am i here for, oh yeah, basically ek9's are fast BUT, there are faster cars, you're lookin at a car that'll be doin 100mph before you've got tome to look at the speedo, (i'm lookin at the tacho too much:)).
I bought my ek9 when i was 19 with 1.5 years of driving experience and insurance is a bugger but, meh in my opinion it's defo worth it.
When or if you get either a DC2 or EK9 DON'T drive like a mentalist, it takes a couple months to get used to car and i you go straight from the off it usuall ends in crash, and any way you cut that it's bad.
You need to get used to the POWER - some people may think, nah it's just a 1.6, you just let them think that cus the 9 has mega power for a 1.6 and it's very easy to get caught out.
If you live near Bristol, are you going to japfest? I think ollyek9 said he was on track so you can see and hear an ek9 go which is cool, plus there's an ek9 stand cheers to dunc and you could check out the ins and outs of this awesome car.

EK9'S RULE.:nice:

wheres the japfest and when?!
you reckon someone would be interested in takin me out in an ek9 to show me what its like? lol

cheers
