EK9 replica, thoughts?


Sweet tama! As long as you're happy with it! Looks amazing and the s2k wheel is well cool. Any plans or are you just keepin it the way it is and daily it? :)

Icebox intake, arm rest delete, are the only changes for now.
[ordered them yesterday...]

I would like to upgrade the front brake setup.
Splitter and rear adjustable wing for track use.
Later might look into Eibach coil overs.

But I like it as it sits for now.
 
thats too much money.. i have better parts except for the 5 lug and my paint is new compare to his and i wont ask for that much for my EK.. shyt u could buy a s2k or a EK hatch with K series turbo for that price..
 
Very clean ride the only thing I don't like is that the engine bay is black...

Im not sold on the K transmission yet...not worth going to yet for the high HP issues with them. S2K was on the list of cars to get and almost did that, but then this came up, had to have it.

black engine bay is a tad strange, but nothing that cant be changed later.

I'll be taking it to the track a couple times a year, lazy track day car...so only a few things to change to get it proper for track, camber adjustment, wheels and hubs [4x100] and some aero. Its going to be my daily driver otherwise.

Its strange to see prices like this for a DX hatch over in the UK/Europe because you all have the EK9...but it is priced correctly for the quality its at for here in the USA. Its very clean, very.

Is it not very hard to get an ek9, or even an import car to be legal or something over there? Must be very lucky to even see one over there!
 
Vehicle Importation and Certification Requirements

Here's a list of cars you are able to import to the USA. Notice, the EK9 is denied. People who have/claim to have a legitimate EK9 in the states do not have it legally. They have found someone to bend the law and if it was found out by the NHTSA they would confiscate the vehicle. I think Show purposes is the only way you can get one in the states legally-and then it can only cover like 200 miles a year and has all kinds of limitations.

I get the feeling its big business driving this...true bummer really as we have more on the road that puke out more smog in one year than an EK9 would in its lifetime.
