Hi all,
I'm pretty sure that this was asked before, but i couldn't find it. So I'm planning to do the upgrade mentioned above, but I read some annoying experiences with it. First someone had his ek3 higher than with stock ek3 susp, others said i should buy ek9 rear antirollbars, and rear subframe brace. What is the truth about this? My goal is to get a stiffer, "mountainable" :) car until i can afford coils.

ek9 shocks and springs sound good to me. if your going for a type R anti roll bar or bigger be sure to get a brace for your rear subframe incase it rips itself apart!

Hi, i had a standard ek3, and them i upgraded to ek9 shocks and springs all round. The ride height was slightly lower, but it still sat too high in my eyes. Ride rise there was alot less roll and the car felt more stable at higher speed.

A rear arb coupled with the suspension will make a good difference over stock.

Thanks for your experiences :) Now I'm stopped the suspension project for a while, since I'm waiting to have enough money for coilovers. But first I will buy a set of ebc yellowstuff with turbogroove disc in 262 (nonfl ek3 is 239 or whatever) to the front and change drumbrakes(i hope this is how it is called in english) for 240 discs with greenstuff.

ye i did a rear disc conversion on my ek3, id advice you upgrade the fronts to 282s. Use mgzr/zs calipers/ discs or prelude calipers.

My only problem is my winter wheels are the stock "steel" ones...14" and i'm not sure that 282s fit under that(and still my winter tires are toyo winterprox s942 or sg like that, not that bad, I could run uphill 90kph constant in deep snow) So that would be some more cash. I'll see, but sure, that would be the best upgrade. It all depends on my summerwork :)

love the ek9 springs on ek3's. very stable and agile...comfort for daily driving as well.
