Hi guys, I've just got myself a stock(ish) 2000 ej9 and i've had a few electrical problems pretty much all at the same time.

So about 3 weeks ago I was given a small sub and amp so decided to install it just to improve the standard sound a little (im not a bass chaser). Got it all wired in with no problems, so pushed the stereo back into the dash, gave it a little wiggle and then it stopped working... pulled it back out thinking id just split a wire or something became disconnected but nothing... (it will still eject CDs tho)
checked all the wires and earths... everything seems to be fine.
checked all the fuses, the one on the back of the stereo, the one in the interior fuse box and the one in the engine bay... they're all fine
Tryed another stereo... still doesnt work

im pretty stuck with that...

then a couple of days later the clock stops working...
again checked the wiring and fuses... everything seems to be fine...

then, a week later i find that my remote central locking doesnt work either!!
battery is fine, fuse seems to be fine...

I am so confused and frustrated!! :angry2: dont get me wrong I'm no Einstein when it comes to electrics but surely i've checked all of the logical things?? :nerv:

all i want to do is press a button, get into my car, start her up, look at how late i am for work and put some music on to get me through the morning rush hour

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!! I WILL BUY YOU BEER!!

any help or advise would be appreciated alot

thanks in advance :thanks:

ps. sorry if this is in the wrong place or has already been covered, i honestly havent been able to find anything similar which has helped

Luckily the car still runs and drives you to work.

I'm going to take the easy route on this one, instead of really doing all the research I can to help you out.

Do you have a Haynes or Chiltons manual for your car (shop manual of some kind) with wiring diagrams?
Start by going through that to see if all these things can be interconnected and dependent on the same fuse or ground.
And as much as this hurts to say, try undoing the connections on all your new electronics to make it as though nothing happened. Then you'll be diagnosing from an easier position.

Check your earths mate. Check the grounds for the interior loom, exterior loom and battery

+ to dannyboys comment. I think the earth for the head unit and the clock are done from around the headunit cage mount. i dont think its part of the return loom. not 100% on that though
