hey guys just got engine back from rebuild with new bottom end valve seals and valve reseated

piston rings were done about 5 k ago then a goosed a shell :nono:

so got it all done but the bores gor rehoned and i am getting a little blue/white smoke i know the car is running lean but its not been over 3k revs and over 60 mph has done 96 miles since rebuild is this normal just for the rings to set back into the bores as i am a little bit worried but its runnin sweet as a nut tho

any ideas

can you re phrase that in english,

what is "a goosed a shell"

and are you saying you had the block honed and then put used rings back in?

running in whilst running lean is a bad idea.

nackered big end lol sorry yes cos it over heated slightly and used the old rings as he said they were ok as in the engineer staded wat u think the problem is can leand cause little bit of smoke

worn/old rings for a start would be a good cause!

If the guy is knowledgable enough to rebuild your engine he should be able to explain to you why its doing this after using his service.

sounds like rings mate. if the engine was stripped down that much he should have just changed them to be on the safe side.

That is an absolute gutter mate :( It does sound like its the rings if you have had all the seals replaced. You defo should of changed them since you got the block honed. Who built it for you?

t & m Smith fae coatbridge gerry takes all his work to him fuk it once a get paid al do the rings lol

Yeah, i've been recommended to him before aswell bud. Meant to be first class. Unlucky mate, hope you get everything sorted. :nice:

where can a get rings in the uk i have b18 c4 with ek9 pistons so it will be ek9 rings a full set at a decent price

how many miles on it? I think its normal for the car to smoke a bit and have some oil consumption if new rings were installed, but only for the first 100 miles for normal rings or up to 1000 miles for chromoly rings.

well before the shell got destroyed the rings were replaced and that was around 5k ago but about 3 k ago the engine overheated so the stem seals and everything was replaced valve seals but not piston rings but dont test with oil in pistions when i had head off put pistons all at a level where i could put enough oil in to cover piston left it 24 hours and could still not see piston and hardly anything had came out the bottom and the sump was off aswell i had a cup under each pistion so i could see where the problem was,, i am just wee bit annoyd as money i have spent and its still a little smokey odd times but engine has done 104 miles since rebuild think i should give it to 250 miles if its still bad do the rings
