Can anyone tell me the exact laws on noise limit if there even is one, sick of getting harassed by police round here, seen so many different stories online hopefully I can find a trust worthy one here.

Thanks

I believe it's down to the police officers discretion in England? Never had an issue myself but a friends exhaust ran 103db and he was forced to silence it.

Ask the police via the "freedom of information act" and by law they will have to reply with the correct to date info.

Seems the police make up the rules as they go along considering this issue, maybe they dont know themselves!

Specific limits are hard to tie down but "notably louder than standard" is an mot fail technically.

I always make my cars quiter but there arent always quiet high performance parts.

Mine is 107db at 4k, only time i got pulled and they mentioned it, he said it sounded epic and let me go :p

I was bricking it tbf! I was going a bit quick, and took him a while to catch me.

... Private road of course lol

No idea mate but I have a 98spec mani, decat and a spec2 so tbh can't get any louder than my car and I have never been pulled for my exhaust (yet) only when I got pulled for not displaying my front plate they said "bit loud is it not?"

Think its just the police round here, utter dick heads on a massive power trip, got stopped once in edin and they were fine, just the idiots down here think they have something to prove.

I thought 103db was the limit for public roads and 98db at most tracks. You should be well within your rights (if you're confident) to ask them to test it before they issue you with a fine/warning/whatever.

Yea everytime I have been done they have tested me, exept they stick the db meter like directly behind the exhaust not to the side at a distance like they are meant to,
