is there any advantage to using an OEM ctr flywheel vs any other honda b series flywheel..

I.E.

is it lighter from the factory, have higher HP/TQ handling abilities, made from a better material?

well if u had a ek9 u wouldnt put a ek4 flywheel in it just wouldnt match n it would b heavier...ek9r n dc2r run same flywheel so either one would work, but might aswell change to a aftermarket lighter one as u will feel a diff, ur motor would rev more freely..dunno if that helps u mate

i have a 96 ek hatch, with a fully built all motor LS-vtec setup, and i dont want to spend the money on a aftermarket flywheel

If you don't have the money to buy a flywheel why did you start this thread? Are you saying you have a CTR flywheel already?

But to answer your question, yes the type R b series flywheels are about 4lb lighter than standard, someone correct me if i am wrong with the weight here, i have gotten somewhat rusty lately...

my friend is parting out his ctr swap and he is holding on to his flywheel until i change my mind

The ctr flywheel is a great option if your budget is not that high

i have a very decent budget, but i don't see the point on spending $200+ on an aftermarket lightened flywheel, when i can spend $40 on the CTR flywheel from my friend

ah but there's a big difference mate.

lightweight flywheels are LIGHT, very light, the ek9 ctr flywheel is slightly lighter than a stock ek4 flywheel, for a nice upgrade, but will never ever be as light as a truly lightweight flywheel, which will obviously make quite a difference.

i know the difference in an OEM flywheel and a light flywheel, i had a 7lb fadinaza in my last b series build, BUT i was only curious to know if the OEM ctr flywheel was lighter than any other factory flywheel because i have a friend selling one, and like i said before im not looking for OMG horsepower ...

yes its couple lb lighter and if your gettin cheap from friend then worth fitting
