From ITR to CL1 Euro R

They both look awesome!!!
I got the euro r wheels on my ek9 but in white:)

very nice, went from itr's to a cl1 there a great car! Ended up getting another itr and now miss the CL1

Hi mate, it wasnt so much I didnt like the car for what it was but I didn't like the car for what I wanted. It was great for my motorway commute everyday, very comfortable, great gearbox, reliable and the MPG was also good for its engine size, probably due to the type of driving I had to do and my economical driving.

Being perfectly honest, I missed the Integra and how enthusing the drive was, the LSD was greatly missed and just the pure raunchiness of the car. I guess the Type S was just too laid back for me.

The Euro R is a car that fits right in the middle, its good for my commute but also takes on abit more of a motorsport front for me to enjoy and have fun with.

Also the cars rarity added to the reason I wanted one along with how long I have marveled at these for.

How are you finding your CH1?

To be honest, I was in the same boat as you. I found the Integra too raw, but wanted something that I could enjoy thrashing about, but have a nice cruiser too at the same time. I wanted speed/practicality at the same time, and it had to be a Honda.

I saw your Honda on eBay, but the price was a little out of my range. The lower end of the market, their weren't much decent examples. Most were high mileage and the looks were a little hit and miss for me.

As you say, the Accord Type-R does fit in the middle. There is road noise, but it's not like you're going to go silly speeds on street roads, so when just driving normally it's nice. It's practical and the Recaros hug well and are comfortable.

The LSD is a bonus! I haven't really been able to open it up because of the weather. It's a little shameful that it does require 98ron, I wish it could run on normal unleaded. I tried 97 ron and it's lumpy and rough idle on my car, so it will have to be vPower.

The VTEC is hard and it does shift for such a heavy car. I really like it and it's exactly the type of Honda I wanted. I want to keep it for a long time if I can. I think they got it spot on with this car.

the accord looks minty mint best of luck with her

Thanks mate

Yeh id like to refurb these in white in a couple of months when it starts warming up! Have you got a link to a thread on your ek9?

Haha nice! How did you find the teg in comparison?

Completley agree also! Yeh i was surprised how obvious the vtec is on this, but i may have been comparing it to the k24 vtec which is hardly noticeable.

The CL1 for is the perfect car and fulfills every factor i want in a car, maybe apart from the fact i want to explore rwd though.

Im struggling to find any faults with the car!

Nice carrrr

Thanks

what is the difference in speed and acceleration? Is it too noticeable?

Its an odd one, overall it seems pretty slow....I actually thought it was slower than my type s. but after a lil play with my mates jdm dc2 it doesnt pull away from me That much. After 100 is very poor though. I think maybe the reason it feels slow is because im used to the tight 6speed. So i think its more the gesrbox letting it down despite its final drive differing from the accord type r giving closer in gesr ratio.

How much of a difference are the gear ratios between CH1/CL1?

Mine would pull no problem after a 100. You could get the EGR valve/head cleaned. Get your VC's done again and ultrasonically clean the injectors. Could make a big difference, but first bet is the EGR Valve/Head.

Not sure about the ratios off the top of my head, im on my iPad atm so when im on the laptop il get the link i think i bookmarked. Its just the FD thats different i think.

Is the EGR valve just a simple clean with WD40 or carb cleaner? Ive never done that before. Ultrasonicslly cleaning the injectors will be something i shall do, next month il be getting the cambelt and pullys changed, yellow stuff front pads and my new Toyo R1Rs fitted. So probably do the injectors a month after with a thorough service. Also what are VCs?

Allways loved the CL1 and yours is a lovely example. Would like one to add to the collection.

That's my old DC2! Here's some pics of when I had it :)

Was my first DC2, I loved it to pieces but I had to sell it to move in with the misses, I'm on DC2 no.3 now though! :p

It is a simple clean with carb cleaner. It's not a difficult job to do 30mins max tbh. Though it does make a big difference if car is slow/hesitating. Get yourself over to accordr.org.

I bought mine which has had it all done, including ultrasonically cleaning the injectors and flow matching them. It does make a big difference as the revs build more freely.

I unfortunately bought the car at the wrong time as I've had oil leaks etc that need to be fixed. I can't complain as it is an old car and the VTEC factor more then makes up for it.

VC = valve clearance if it hasn't be done. I reckon a thorough service will have it back to it's healthy self. Is your car limited to 98ron/above? I ask as the pre-facelift ATR is and the post was able to run 95ron.

Thanks, id like to add another DC2 or EK9 to the car park at some point.

Hi hitmo, have you moved on from the black one you had then now?

Ahhh sorted, i may aswell lean that this weekend. Ive registered to that forum but hardly been on it, il give it a proper check over at the weekend.

Yeh in the lower revs it has like a resoluting hestitstion which could indicate a thorough service is needed. So when i get the sevice done i get the feelers out for the valve clearence along with spark plugs, Ht leads dizzy cap etc around that area and the injectors.

Ahh nasty, are the leaks bad, gaskets or?

Im not sure whether it is 98only. With it being JDM i guessed it would be 98ron. Its all ive run it on and I wont try the 95 ron.

Looks like it is hesitating. Get the service done and and clean out the EGR Valve.

With regards to my problems, they seem never ending lol. Some things are missing off the car, nothing major, few bolts here and there. The leaks are a nightmare to locate and find out what is causing them. I need a new oil sump as the current one is corroded? So it's leaking quite badly. :/ I'm surprised as it had a new sump fitted in august last year.

I will be changing the cam cover gasket/cam seal/vtec solenoid gasket too. I'd request you to check as well as it's rather annoying having the car leak.

So today being one of my days off and it being sunny and dry I thought I would give the car a mini detail session.

started with a thorough wash, then only the De-Ironizing, then Clay Barred, Polished and finally waxed. Tyre Black ****, windows cleaned and the interior fully hoovered and AG quick detail spray.

It was getting dark and I couldnt be arsed to get the tripod, so heres some grainy shots:

Good stuff, my cambelt kit has arrived and some EBC Yellowstuff pads which il be getting booked in to be fitted as soon as possible. After this il be collecting service items. Also I have a 3 day weekend soon so il get the EGR Valve cleaned and sort out new gaskets to have the cam covers refurbed at the same time.

someone delete this thread........... I want another one of these ;(

First thing is ive made a site for the Euro R CL1 as there isnt a dedicated on in the entire world. I only started it today, so its basically a collage of stuff ready to be organised, all under construction. If you have a Euro R or would like me to host a free blog or Gallery for your car let me know:

Honda Euro R » Accord » Torneo » CL1 Dedicated Site

Well an update is that some muppet in a Van was using the outside lane of a roundabout that has 4 exits to go back down the road he came out of. He went into the side of me and smashed my door, fender and sill.

Ive had to order parts direct from Honda as sourcing the parts from Japan is too much effort myself and may not be 100% perfect anyway. So £1450 later and ive ordered the parts from Honda. Door arrived from Swindon, the rest of the parts are coming from Japan, estimated date is the 31st of May.. One side wing Mirror alone was £240.

Anyway some images from before that:
