My gearstick is really sloppy from left to right, I replaced both bushings on the selector shafts today but it's still the same. Front to back is lovely and tight and select gears fine I'm not using a short shifter just a shifter extension

Any ideas ?

There's a bolt that holds the shifter together, tighten this Nd it should tighten up abit. Shifter extention is going to exaggerate the feeling as you've got more leverage.

Do you mean the bolt on the bottom of the shifter that joins it to the shifter rods, yeah the shifter extension is obviously making things worse but even with it of it's still pretty poo

I had this problem the fork at end of gear linkage was a bit deformed bent it back and it solved the problem

Hmm I sort of have the same problem on my ek...may try this! Have a trackday this Friday so it would be nice to have the gear stick not moving from side to side!

Noticed today that the U style coupling on the end of the selector rods seemed to have a bit of play in it, looks as thou there's a bush in there ? Have seen a few threads over on honda tech ( hopefully I'm aloud to say that ) were they have been welded solid or cut out and replaced for a non bushed item.

Tempted to put a spot weld on it and see how it feels..

I've got a similar problem as my rear ebgibe mount has gone but I am also fitting an mfactory linkage bushing kit at the same time. Should clear up any movement

I have fitted the mfactory bushing kit and it has made things feel alot tighter and precise, definitely worth doing.
