On my phone and it wont let me use the search function, going to change the oil in my gearbox soon just wondering what is the best to use for mine, ek9 s4c

Honda mtf if your box is stock?

I would go with the Redline MTL, Amsoil MTF or Fuchs Sintofluid.

75w-80 / 75w-85 MTF's - Manual Transmission Fluid

Cheers

Tim

Have yet to try Amsoil, having liked their oil, but I cannot recommend Redline MTL. Tried it and got more crunch in my syncro's.

I've used Honda MTF and never had any problems. Redline scared me away from synthetic transmission oils and I haven't gotten around to trying something else.

That's a bit odd as loads of people use the MTL in Honda boxes and have reported back that it improves shifts.

Cheers

Tim

Stock box = stock fluid
Only if you've got aftermarket parts like plate LSD etc would I use anything else.

Honda new MTF formula, GM synchromesh, pennzoil synchromesh, royal purple synchromax, will do a good job, it also depends if you have gear grind problems and the use that you give to your car.

Not really mate, it depends if the tranny has grind problems and other factors like weather and the use of the car normal/track etc.

If the box has got grind problems it needs changing/fixing not a different brand of oil.
If your box is stock use Honda mtf. No need to buy anything else?
Think Honda are stupid enough to put anything other than the correct oil in their gearboxes?
I doubt op is endurance racing either.

For the regular street car (with some spirited driving now and again), we recommend Torco MTF :)

i use this but im not so sure on it now after seeing the condition it was in after a recent oil change. 2-3k road driving and one trackday and the oil was burnt black.

Is there a slight burnt smell to the fluid? Your tranny may have some internal issues and be overheating (going by your other thread)

We've tested almost every type of transmission fluid known, on both street and race cars, and the Torco fluid has always came out on top.

I use 10/40 in mine and after a days torture at the track its as gold as it went in.
