So now I've got my new Meister zeta R coilovers and my slightly bigger wheels (16x7) I wanted to get them fitted and setup properly all at the same time. I'd love to fit the suspension myself but I've just moved house and every spare moment I have I usually have a paint brush in hand!

Anyway I contacted a couple of local places about the job.

1st place is just a garage that also does geo setups they said they'd do the whole thing for £200

2nd place is a company that builds race cars for the Britcar series they quoted me £350+vat however this was worst case scenario having not seen my car the guy quoted for 4hrs labour to swap the suspension(£50+vat per hour) This price also included corner weighting, is this necessary? He also mentioned shortening my track arms because of the lower ride height?

So should I stump up the extra cash for garage number 2 or will I be ok with garage number 1?

What car we talking about? Assuming dc2
You won't need shorter arms with the dc2, plenty of adjustment as standard for a lowered car.

Practically the same.
No need for shorter arms.
Corner weighting is decent idea of your into the whole chassis setup thing. But if you just after lows and for it to drive straight then wouldn't bother.

The corner weighting is only an hour labour extra so if I went there I would probably have it done. Good to know about the arms though :)) I thought they would be ok, as I remember having no issues when I lowered my DC2.

Basically the car is going to be a weekend/track car so i need it to handle well

If you have the cash go with option 2, from what you're describing those guys should actually have an idea what they are doing. Also most normal garages only do front wheel alignment, the second garage will likely do 4 wheel alignment. If you go really low roll center adjusters (basically extended ball joints for lower control arms) might be an idea but not 100% necessary.

Give Stevie a ring at Grinspeed

Top bloke, and doesnt charge a lot.

I guess, £350.00 + vat is nigh on £420.

Sounds like a waste of money IMO.

Do some research, Pick some toe settings and go with garage 1 or similar.

Decent geo setup is usually £80-100 wherever you go as a guide, A garage with a lift shouldn't take more than 3 hours to fit some easy suspension.

one thing worth noting about the cornerweighting, if you plan on removing/moving weight about the car then your just undoing all that work anyway..
Personally I'd wait till I could fit them, me and a buddy just fitted his meister R to his dc2, faffing about on the driveway and it was still done within 3hours.

Yeah not sure how it can be 4 hours to change suspension when we can do a set of shocks with brings using a ramp or forklift within an hour or so, that is with using an air gun though.

I think they are over quoting incase they find seized bolts etc.
they don't know how easy it is to swap these so...

Yeah that's exactly what there doing. I'm gonna give the guy a call tomorrow and try and get a more accurate price for just the fitting and geo set up.

Your right about the corner weighting as I don't know what ill end up doing with the car in the long term, and like you say if I end up stripping totally for track use then it will be money wasted
