i am gettign a standard ek4 witht the b16 engine.

im lookign at my options to go with itb's, turbo, charger or k20 swap.

what im interested in is wht would be needed to run itb's and what could i expect to gain in figures with rough costs involved.

thanks

From all the options mentioned, ITB's are by far the most expensive for the minimal gain on a B16. I would go as far as saying there would be no perceptible difference on a standard B16a2 between ITB's and a normal intake and very little difference on the dyno.

From a back to back dyno test with first, a standard B16b, and then with Skunk2 Stage 2 cams, standard compression and Jenvey ITB's there was next to no top end gain though the torque increased throughout the range, though the standard compression may have let it down somewhat.

This is just from my experience, others may have had better luck or happier dynos.

And remember you will need to run aftermarket management to support them.

forced induction

cheapest outlay and biggest gains

race-tech see 300bhp from standard b16's with there turbo kits

Be a man and go turbo. I'd highly recommend GO-AUTOWORK.com for any of your turbo needs. His postage to the UK is really cheap to.

like championship white said, you'll get very little return bolting on itb's other than lots of noise and probably bad idle!!

to make the best of itb's you need high compression, big cams and a very good exhaust system followed by some very good mapping!

so if i go turbo route for about 250bhp what would i be lookign at needing and what sorta price am i looking?

was it the s2p2 cams you used?? if so why did you not raise the compression!?
itb's are very nice to look at when the bonnet is up but a good set will set you back big bucks, and as Eoghain has pointed out, you need a lot of aftermarket goodies to get the most out of them

Everyone on the Irish rallying forum seemed to get great gains without bottom end work according to my brother, we were going to increase compression over last winter but we had an engine issue thanks to the Emerald ECU that made us delay the plan. Have you had any luck with the Pro series stage 2's?

with the B16b, with standard bottom end using a hondata s300 people were get 195-200hp that would have to be a very healthy engine with a good exhaust set up!

does anybody have back to back dyno sheets of the same engine with an ITB and a single plenum/throttle body setup (even aftermarket)? I'm really curious as to what kinds of gains (or losses) ITBs give. I'm looking for a dyno shet because I'm curious on how much it improves low-mid range, as some people said.

Itb's are brilliant altho very dear! Had them on a 20valve levin and they were great serious sound and very good, altho at idle it was rather rough and annoying around town, but very good, easiest way to get power for money is definetly turbo, I've never had experience with any only n/a power with hondas so I can't say much on the topic.
