Hi Mates!

I'm still shocked. We put my car on dyno on Friday we had great results 202 bhp from a B16A2. I did not have proper midrange power that's why we tried to tune further. Than the engine blew up! We will check the engine tomorrow I will take some pics. I'd like to know what had happened! I hope I will find the responsible person!

I had BC3+cams, rocket SL valves, Omniman flat valves, port&polish ITR TB and manifold, Comptech Icebox, Hytech copy header ...

i feel your pain, my engine blew up too after about 6 drag race passes :( it sucks, but you didnt even get to drive it! try not to blame anybody until you have all of the info, did 1 person/shop do the full install and tune? or different parts at different shops etc?

what kind of valvesprings/retainers did you have? you say you have omni and rocket valves?? which one is it? how high were you revving? at what rpm did it let go? what did you use for tuning?

It could have been a tuning error that caused it to blow (ie: lean condition at a certain point), what did you for the fuel part of the system to accompany the air flow? It could even be an old timing belt that went.

I wrote it wrong! Rocket SL valvesprings/retainers and Omni flat valves!
202 bhp was at 8800rpm, revlimit at 9200 rpm!
I don't blame anybody untill I don't see clear! I have Obd1 ecu with ostrich real time emulator! We always checked the AFR! I take photos today I will post them!

AFR and timing belt (new) was perfect! I think one of the valves hit the piston!

did you have stock pistons or an adjustable cam gear? ive seen adjustable cam gears slip and cause a valve to hit the piston before...

I had stock pistons and Buddy Club adjustable cam gears! Cam gears did not slip!

hmmm your tuner may tune by ignition timing, mine does the same, he just adds A LOT of ignition timing to the car and runs it rich opposed to lesstiming and run it as lean as you can. that may be while even though your af was perfect it still could have detonated, but if your right about your piston to valve contact it must have been an install error as all your parts are quality. pull the head off and let us know what you find, best of luck.

Intake valve drop in and hit the piston! But why???!!! That is the question!

I think I will change for B18C6. Can anybody help me with that? I'd like to get it from UK! How much would be a complete swap?

hard to say whats cause but 9200 rev limit on b16a2 isnt good, your crank and pistons are stock which wouldnt suit them kinda revs on regualr basis

ive always heard good stuff about rm products hence why i went with his gen 2 springs/retainers but several of the springs shattered in my engine and some few almost fused to the retainers ( i had bc3+ cams as well), this happend over a year after install but i know install wanst the best but i cant
say whether it was down to initial install error or bad batch pf product but do know ramp angles on bc3+ are horrible

if you definately want an itr motor then i can give you friends details who can supply jdm b18c complete swap (engine, gearbox, loom, ecu etc) for about £2500 but shipping to hungary would be expensive and thats if he's willing to do it

holly mother of god, can you please rescale those pictures they are WAAAAY too big, my 20" widescreen monitor cant even display them and there not loading. and the dyno results arent loading either :(

I'm 99.9% sure that your problem was either oversized valves used or bad quality valvesprings and retainers :nice:

They were standard size valves and the good quality springs!

I spoke with Omniman he thinks that RM SL springs were too strong for the OEM replacement valves!!!

yeah a valve obviously broke, so those flat face valves were oem strength? they werent racing valves?

Retainers?? Springs ?

valve float, 9200 RPM, the valve hit the piston.

I hope you fix your car soon, but the head is no longer usable right?
