If money wasnt a issue id be going for a OEM but the GMB are half the price and ive read mainly good things about them so is honda charging alot more for something thats going to be as reliable?

If anyones using/used a GMB pump what did you think?

the best prices ive found are...

OEM honda pump £90 (h-tune)
GMB waterpump £42.99 ( japserviceparts)

cheers

Personally i would go for oem mate been tried and tested for alot longer when inrebuilt my starlet engine when going forged oem water pump was used same with oil pump etc

If it fails could potentially ruin an engine

cheers, id always go oem honda but seeing as the GMB have good reviews and half the price its abit of a ballache to pay double, guess your paying for peace of mind aswel as quality

You can usually buy the kits with timing belt which may save you some money.

i thought that but cant see a kit which has the genuine belt, waterpump and tensioner.

japservice parts have the belt and tensioner at a good price and im still deciding where to buy the waterpump from. Imo i think id be ok with the GMB but i best go OEM to be sure, just a shame its double the price!!

Always used GMB water pumps in my cars and friends when i do the timing belt . For years. 0 probs .

i know of many people using GMB on their builds without any issues

thanks, this is what i mean, i keep seeing reviews which make me think your paying double for OEM and theres not really any difference, i think its a case of peace of mind more than anything.

Anyone else out there?? how many miles has the pump covered would be a good one to know...

80.000/100.000 km , recently changed mine ( EK4) with 95 .000 km and no flaws. No rust .nothing deteriorated . like new.

This water pumps are projected to do 250.000 km , already asked to GMB

:nice:

im going to go for a GMB, if it seizes or breaks then il happily admit i should of gone OEM but im confident it wont come to that!

I done my research on them aswell, I was curious and what differences there was but read a lot on honda-tech and some or quite a lot of members. The Gmb water pump the bearings seize or leaked. So I'd say oem all the way, soo there's no worry and piece of mind, for something that could cause so much damage.
