can oem head bolts be used again and again or should they be replaced each time

and if i go arp head bolts wat are the advantages

thnks

ive been told that you should not re use head bolts as they stretch over time , same for conrod bolts.

just or order new headbolts or go arp , they will both secure the head to the block the same (Y).

Don't reuse your original head bolts! They stretch under stress and you won't get an accurate torque reading refitting old bolts!

ARP or OEM :)

I think funkypower sell them! I tend to buy my stuff from America! Works out cheaper :)

some are some arent, i got some head bolts direct from honda and they were vti ones fitted fine no problems

They have different length due to block height differences, I wouldn't take that risk

My oem head bolts have been used twice and i'm turbo'd. I have no problem what so ever.

can be reused aslong as its done correctly BUT to be on safe side you might aswell use arp iam runing them

There is no guidance in the Integra workshop manual that i have regarding the headbolts, if you can reuse them or fit new once removed. i have allways been taught that unless stated reuse and centre dot top of head bolt, so in future removal people are aware that the bolts have been reused.

Head bolts stretch once they are installed and do not torque down correctly after they have been used/installed/stretched. Reusing head bolts is not recommended.

all depends on the manufactures spec's as the head bolts on the jaguars(which i work on) can be used twice.

So if you have a Jaguar engine sitting in your civic engine bay, you can reuse your head studs one time past install. lol

Ace for Jaguars.

$130 for a new set of Honda head studs, why skimp when they are such a low cost replacement. Maybe more $ for a Jaguar set, but still not very expensive especially for the ease of mind that they are not going to snap off.

I used b16a arp head studs on my b16b and they work.... So I don't see why they won't work for you :nice:

Although It is possible to reuse the old ones, I bought new ARP headstuds fro my B20 build.
