Hey!

ive got a custom exhaust on my ek4 b16a at the moment which is straight through from manifold back to the back box with 2.5 inch bore pipe and i really like the sound:D, loud and raspy , however my neighbours do not :nono: , im about to buy a 4-2-1 5zigen header to replace the standard unit ive got on the car and wondering if this will increase noise even further or is it not really noticable ?, ive heard that it can make the exhaust even more raspier with an after market header ?

Jack.

header=louder, you need to get a straight through resonator installed, it will take away some noise and make it deeper.

last time im using stock header + 2.5" piping and N1 exhaust... sound was loud...
But after i change to afermarket 421 header...The sound change...a lil bit silent than b4..actually the sound change which i feel its more silent

thanks for the input :nice:

i really like the raspy noise , i know must look like a ricer but oh well :D

would another resonator reduce flow at all ?

so tecque your header make the exhaust quieter!!, i wouldnt think there would be much difference if at all between the different manufacturers as they all would use the same materials i would imagine, i think its possibly more to do with the backbox ?

Just fitted my Vibrant header today after coming from the standard header with a resonated decat and 5Zigen Miracle Fireball system cat back.

There's definately some of the raspiness gone since changing over from the standard header, it does seem a little quieter but this will probably change slightly with some carbon build up. I also changed from a straight through decat to a resonated decat and that meant a slight loss in raspiness too.

Over all I think the new header has added a very slight 'throb' to the exhaust note, but it definately sounds more like a tuned car now than any old engine with a straight through system.

All in all, I recommend it.

thanks for the info man:) yea i know what you mean about the more race sound with the header on rather than a more common exhaust noise:nice:

its weird i would have thought thinking about it that a stainless steel header would be louder as the walls would be alot thinner and give off more sound , could it be because its flowing better the noise is reduced ?

did you notice much difference with the vibrant header ? a mate has it on his b16a sir and likes it alot much better mid range but he didnt like the way it smoothed out his vtec kick not as dramatic as before , did you find the same ?

Any header is better than the oem one specially the vibrant one :secret: keep in mind that also you shave off some weight! the oem header weights a lot.

Like blinx said, yes a straight through resonator does not affect flow at all, just absorbs sound. I've got 3 large ones along my system + a 6inch canon muffler housing.

And like RVM said :nice:

If you want some raspyness, get a titanium cat back + muffler.
