hi guys and gals thought i would join up as im seriously thinking of buying an ek9 soon.ive had 3 jdm integra type r's dc2's one of which was turbo'd and 1 integra dc5 type r (in process of being written off) so i have approx 7 years of driving nothing but type r's and i dont fancy a change any time soon.
trying to decide if i should get another dc2 and buy back my dc5 and do a k20 swap or buy an ek9 and do the same or even a b18c swap (b16b being the only reason ive not bought an ek9 yet) thoughts?

welcome, why? do you not like the b16b? the k20 in the 9 would be a nice touch, but no matter what you go for its still going to be honda so its all good :nice:
 
thanks guys.nothing against the b16b its an awesome engine but i just need a bit more than it has to offer.ive been driving b18c engined tegs for years and when they are standard i get a bit bored with the power they offer and always want more,therefore i know the b16b just hasnt got enough grunt to satisfy me.i really want a k20 engined ek9 but depending on cost of getting one fitted with all the parts needed it would be quicker easier and cheaper to drop in a b18c.all the ek9's ive seen for sale tht have already done this are asking silly money for them.just been confirmed over the phone my dc5 is a cat b write off.no front end impast tho so engine and box are fine.could have whole dc5 for parts available including 4 pot brembo's.the accident did rip the driveshaft out of the box tho so would have to look for damage.apart from different engine mounts and driveshafts and modding the exhaust system what else is needed for k20 swap?
 
thanks for the link.just read about 7 pages of it and didnt know about needing to change the subframe for dc2 one.was considering putting the k series in another dc2 but i really do like the ek9 and ive never had one.might just drop in a b18 and change the gearing.hearing lots of good things about m factory gears.standard 98 spec b18c with 4.9 final drive and swapped out 4th and 5th gears...hmmm decisions decisions.
still hoping to buy back my dc5 from insurance company for 1500 quid then will have a whole donor car including ecu and wiring and so on.if i do decide to sell the parts on will have a lovely k20 engine for sale lol.will prob keep the brembos
 
yup b18 with a 4.9 final ;)

gearing is the way forward :D
 
ye im a honda man for sure.that list of tegs didnt include the civic vti and the civic vtis ive had too.the mb6 model.both of them in pirates black or when the sun was shining that lovely plum colour it turns.def hondas best colour.
there are no other cars out there that tick the boxes for me.if u stuck a k20 in a mazda rx7 i would have one of those for sure,just dont fancy rebuilding the chocolate rotary engine every 30000 miles
