Hi everyone! I have just joined because i am thinking of buying a civic type R from japan. Due to my wife loosing her job I am selling my Nissan Skyline GTR and downsizing to something cheaper but hopefully still lots of fun! I haven't made my final choice on car yet, Its either a civic or Integra. Any advice guys? Aslo any tips on where to buy from what to look out for would be great.
:thanks:

Welcome! hmmm, hard to say as your jumping down from a GTR to a honda. You might want something with more torque, so get a 1.8 or k20A car. DC2R is/was the quickest FF car in the world until the FD2 CTR came along. :D

i p/x'd my very well tuned skyline GTST for my ek, and once you get used to the high revving'ness of the lilltle B16b, they become just as much fun to drive, trust me , im in no way dissapointed with mine at all:thanks::drive:

Thanks for the replys guys! I know its going to be quite different to my GTR but its good to hear someone else has gone from a skyline to an EK9 and is not dissapointed. I previously owned a Focus ST170 which i think has a similar kind of power delivery to the Hondas and I really enjoyed that car, so having been bitten by the Japanese import bug I'm hoping a civic or integra will be even better!
Does the 1.8 in the integra have noticably more torque than the 1.6? I'm on a bit of a budget so I dont think I can afford a 2.0! :nice:

hi mate,
i went from 320bhp celica to an ek9 bout a month ago,the ek9 really is a fun drive, great handling at high speed, but it lacks power imo,im gonna spend lots more cash and see what bhp they can take as i really like the ek9 ahead of the dc2 or dc5...i could of bought either but i chose an ek9:bow:

Whereas a K20 has huge torque difference from a B16B (150 fb-ft with 118 lb-ft) + 400cc more, the B18CR has 130 lb-ft and has 200cc more which makes it a closer fight! :D
There is big difference though again. Consider a stock EK9 and a stock DC2 going side by side having 3rd gear at 2000 rpm both. When the EK9 will reach 9000 rpm(3rd gear), the DC2 will be at least 50 meters ahead...... :( 2nd and 3rd gears of EK9 are two different worlds...

he means the acceleration from each gears.
get a 1.8 if you can. Saves you the trouble and headaches of stroking it in the future. There is a lot of differences.

Thanks for the info guys, this is all really helpful stuff! My initial thoughts were to get a dc2 integra but then i found out more about the ek9 civic and I like the exclusivity of it because it was never sold in the UK. This is going to be a tough decision!

dc2 if you want a more powerfull lump.

but ek9 if you want one on the sexiest hondas about..and you probably wont see to many for a good while ;)

Thats excatly why I fancy one!

Apart than power what are the other main differences, handling etc?

having driven the ek9,dc2 and dc5 i deffo think the ek9 has it won in handling, followed closely by dc2 and the dc5 was last.....but then again the dc2 and dc5 were on stock suspension unlike the ek9
