Hi chaps,

Well today i was doing my usual sunday once around my EK9 and decided to open up the boot for my dad (he wanted to see if he could use the car to transport a materess) anyway whilst looking at the boot i noticed the carpet was wet.

I lifted up the carpet and chipboard panel only to noticed the worst! My spair wheel well flooded! it didnt look much but it was at least a litre! :(

So basically i need help guys!

What can i do to find out where the leak is coming from? The only thing i can currently think of is taking out the spare, carpet and chipboard panel; getting my dad to hose the car with me in the boot and look for where the water is coming from....

Im pretty gutted atm :((

The worst part was cleaning out all the water this morning only to come back to my car at 11 at night tonight to find more water, not as much but nevertheless.

So yea, whatever your input guys it'll go along long way, cuz i have no idea how to tackle this!

check grommets in boot floor seals around window but its usually coming in around the rear lights

as shooter says prob round rear lights , get new light seals . changed mine helped but did not solve it completly . sitting in boot and getting someone to hose it down didnt work for me . hope ya get it sorted

I Have the same problem i got a blow out on friday and when i took out the spare i found the same bad image..

Cheers guys, any idea where i can find/buy rear light seals?

as for the hose situation it SHOULD work, as a days worth of rain still managed to get in the boot, so 10 mins with the hose should be alright for finding the source or at least pointing me in the right direction...

£19 for one :( expensive considering what it is :((

I don't know if you guys have an Autozone or not, but you can buy gasket maker and just cut your own pattern by tracing.

my boot was leaking in through the air vent behind the bumper aswel as back lights, it gets blocked with **** off the road and leaks through. as for sealing back lights use sika flex silicone or equivalent.

Try swapping the gaskets from side to side and then a thin line of silicone sealer around the contact area (inside and out). If you need any help with this mate please feel free to give me a quick call. If you were closer i would just do it for you.

Dunks got the best idea,

Just take off your rear lights,
Clean everything down, lights, seals and bodywork.
Then swap em over and put them back on or just add a touch of silicone to the seals.

I had exactly the same problem, I just took my lights off, cleaned it all down and put them back on and it sorted the problem out :D

I had the same problem I just used this putty type of tail light sealant at the top of the lights and it worked. My friend had it lying around his garage so i dunno a brand or anything.
