so its time for my 9 to have its mot, and all the boots need replacing, inner and outer cv boots and steering rack boots.
first of all i have order all correct inner and outer cv boots but cant find much on steering rack boots... would the normal civic steering rack boots fit okay on my 9?
and could anyone give me some tips or tricky bits on replacing these boots. thanks, paul.

also to get the axle off the rod do you need a special tool to compress the c clip type thing?

I think normal ek rack boots will fit. Easiest way is to take the shafts out and put them in a vice, pull the inner spider assembly out. Release the circlip to slide the spider assembly off the shaft. And replace that way. Or you can tap the outer cv off with a mallet. I usually strip the inner and slide the boot down the shaft

okay sweet, was not 100% sure if they'd come off, some people say yes some people say no, not to mad of a job its just the bloody tools! thanks for the help, also if you get a chance do you think you could link me some boots you think would fit as im having real trouble trying to find the steering rack boots

Ye the inner cv spider assembly comes apart. I usually strip and regrease it all. If u tap the inner part of the cv you can knock it off the shaft. Theres a video on youtube.

I would of thought a ek4 boot from euro car parts would be fine? Never had to change any on my 9 though

I just did my steering rack boot they are easy to do i got mine from honda think it was about £50 though.
