Hi guys, im in the final stages of a h2b swap, the engine and everything is in, it will crank but wont start up.
my car is a 2000 facelift EJ9 (OBD2b), and the engine is a H22A from a 1998 automatic 5th gen JDM Prelude (OBD2).
specs are as follows,
S80 Gearbox.
ACT clutch kit.
QSD H2B kit.
Brian Crower valvetrain inc cams.
Mahle gold 11.5 comp pistons.
eagle rods.
RC440cc injectors.
skunk2 intake and TB.
Bisi header.
chipped p28 from phearable.net
OBD conversion harness.
brand new NGK spark plugs and leads.
Ive used my obd2b ej9 engine loom and converted some plugs using the h22a jdm engine loom to fit the h22a components/sensors.
now i believe ive wired everything up correctly, everything seems to be plugged in right, ive got the gearbox, intake, and valve cover grounded, as well as the thermostat ground on the engine loom also the -ve battery terminal is grounded to the chassis.
i have no FITV or IACV, no Knock sensor or EGR.
i have my dizzy plug wired up as the picture shows below, i colour matched all the wires and put them in the correct locations in the plug. the only exception being the blue wire (RPM Lead Signal Wire i think) which i have wired up to the spare blue wire located near to the clutch resevoir pictured in the second pic.
is this wired up correctly (lead signal wire)?
now on to the starting issues. i believe my dizzy is working and im getting a decent spark at the plugs, i seem to be gettin decent enough compression, im getting fuel as when i pulled the spark plugs they were a bit wet with petrol.
first off i tried the firing order shown in the pic below which i copied from a USDM prelude service manual which is also shown below (4th pic).
here. dizzy location marked with 1 has the 'C' mark on the cap, and where its labeled 4, the cap has 'A' written on it. just as the pic below suggests.
ive also tried the following firing order as ive seen a few pics of peoples h22's using this order.
finally heres just a pic of the current state my bay is in.
are there any H2Bers out there or competant mechanics that have any ideas why my engine is failing to start up? i think my valve timing is correct but if it happens to be 1 or 2 teeth out, could that cause my engine to not start at all? ive also tried loosening the dizzy and rotating it to both extremes but with no avail.
any help would be much appreciated.
thanks.
