Hi guys, im in the final stages of a h2b swap, the engine and everything is in, it will crank but wont start up.

my car is a 2000 facelift EJ9 (OBD2b), and the engine is a H22A from a 1998 automatic 5th gen JDM Prelude (OBD2).

specs are as follows,
S80 Gearbox.
ACT clutch kit.
QSD H2B kit.
Brian Crower valvetrain inc cams.
Mahle gold 11.5 comp pistons.
eagle rods.
RC440cc injectors.
skunk2 intake and TB.
Bisi header.
chipped p28 from phearable.net
OBD conversion harness.
brand new NGK spark plugs and leads.

Ive used my obd2b ej9 engine loom and converted some plugs using the h22a jdm engine loom to fit the h22a components/sensors.

now i believe ive wired everything up correctly, everything seems to be plugged in right, ive got the gearbox, intake, and valve cover grounded, as well as the thermostat ground on the engine loom also the -ve battery terminal is grounded to the chassis.

i have no FITV or IACV, no Knock sensor or EGR.

i have my dizzy plug wired up as the picture shows below, i colour matched all the wires and put them in the correct locations in the plug. the only exception being the blue wire (RPM Lead Signal Wire i think) which i have wired up to the spare blue wire located near to the clutch resevoir pictured in the second pic.

is this wired up correctly (lead signal wire)?

now on to the starting issues. i believe my dizzy is working and im getting a decent spark at the plugs, i seem to be gettin decent enough compression, im getting fuel as when i pulled the spark plugs they were a bit wet with petrol.

first off i tried the firing order shown in the pic below which i copied from a USDM prelude service manual which is also shown below (4th pic).

here. dizzy location marked with 1 has the 'C' mark on the cap, and where its labeled 4, the cap has 'A' written on it. just as the pic below suggests.

ive also tried the following firing order as ive seen a few pics of peoples h22's using this order.

finally heres just a pic of the current state my bay is in.

are there any H2Bers out there or competant mechanics that have any ideas why my engine is failing to start up? i think my valve timing is correct but if it happens to be 1 or 2 teeth out, could that cause my engine to not start at all? ive also tried loosening the dizzy and rotating it to both extremes but with no avail.

any help would be much appreciated.

thanks.

forgot to mention i have changed the driveplate to a b series M factory lightweight flywheel

also i have a 255 fuel pump, it primes with the ignition on and the engine check light turns off a few seconds after ignition is on so thats not stopping the enigne from starting either.

I would say make sure that everything lines up on the TDC marks, my car was out of time and would just crank over and not fire up.

ok thanks. il try adjusting the valve timing again tomorrow and see if that helps.

another thing to add, i have a AEM FPR and a B&M fuel pressure gauge. when the ignition is on and the fuel pump primes, is the fuel gauge reading suppose to rise? i havent noticed the gauge reading move at all or is this normal since the engine hasnt started?

in other words, how can i tell if my fuel pressure/flow is adequate enough to enable the engine to start? (without having to buy a fuel pressure tester or something)

ok, ive adjusted the timing belt and everything is dead on. still no start. i spray easy start down the TB and it struggles to start but still nothing.

I had this problem and so did my mate, theres an earth from the dizzy/speed sensor that goes onto gearbox or thermostat, check that!

Ooops sorry re-read and noticed you have.. Hm i'm out i ideas sorry :(

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hopefully someone can help you figure it out. Well cool build you have mate, do you have a build thread?

He will put one up when he gets it started
There is no fuel presssure???
Gauge reads 0, nothing comes out of injectors,
Prime the system, pressure doesn't go up.....
Crank engine and nothing out of Injectors or any fuel coming out the fuel return off the rail......

she lives!

for anyone interested, the problem turnt out to be a faulty fuel pump (HRC Performance). HRC claim to have decent fuel pumps and mine was brand new but now im not so sure on how good their quality actually is. so now im just sticking with Walbro!

the fuel pump primed like normal but it just didnt generate fuel pressure so im assuming theres some sort of valve inside it that happened to be faulty so it primed but just couldnt hold any pressure.
