Helpful if thinking bout cams

I am not a big fan of upgrading cams unless u r using the car for strictly track use. they make the car burn more fuel and if they r not tuned properly u could seriously **** something up. i speak from experience.

naturally gas mileage will be affected with ANY mod as the only way to make power is to get more fuel and air into the combustion chamber. removing pumping losses and restrictions are not MAKING power they are freeing up power.

yes but this upgrade is one that can seriously increase gas usage more than any other. u need to make sure u r prepared for that especially foer a everyday vehicle.

Cams are a good upgrade for everyday, more so for the track, like any modification it can be installed/setup badly, always best to go to a recomended tuner. As for fuel consumption, its obvious when you tune a car its going to go up, I think most are not bothered, just interested in the bhp/lbft gains. If you are that concerned about using a little more juice, dont do it eh.

One thing u have to remember make sure u have a good tuner or else u could really do some serious damage to your engine. CAMS are upgrades that need precision installment or else your timing will be all ****ed up

i have read several threads and reviews on different forums etc saying that it is safe to use the jun 2 intake cam on stock ctr valve train
Does this sem right because if so this could be a bargain for performance gains as all you will need is jun 2 intake cam, adjustable cam geras and then mapping, save s a good few £££££
any views on this

What Jun says????? Why to follow the rumours and have a chance to ruin your engine??(even 00.1%) Why not to spend an "extra" $400 since you are planning for costly mods and hold your breath when your reach 9000 rpm?? :nerv:
In case I had only $400 - $500, I would go first for the valvsprings - retainers and after collecting some money for cams, not the opposite!!

yeah i see what ur saying better get saving, has a diesel keeping up with me last night:wow:
Just trying to find out best mods before i spend my hard earned cash and just using jun 2 intake cam seems to work well and give good gains but i dont have quite enough money yet so ill keep an eye on it all
cheers for all the help so far guys sorry i keep asking questions its just the 9 is such a tuned car already dont want to change something and make it worse

you had a diesel keeping up with you !have you had your 9 rolling roaded to check what power its running ? and see if the engine is good ?mind you some turbo diesels can be very quick when there chipped up now i.e revo chip a skoda fabia vrs diesel, stage 1 190bhp + 360 lb.ft :wow:

well she seems quick and seems to pull well but i dont think this diesel can have been standard it was a seat leon cupra diesl with a red tdi badge so its 150 bhp i think and it must have been remapped or sommit but there we are im still getting used to the car
