Me, of everyone in this blessed world has bought a Honda...

Being the hardcore BMW fanatic i am, this is a very unlikely situation...

This is my B20 build project...

The car is a Honda Civic EJ8 1997 model year, originally had a D-series motor...

Picture is something i pulled off google, to show a similar car, mine is not photo ready;
photo1rr3.jpg

What i already have;

-Honda B20B block
-Eagle con-rods and crank-shaft
-SRP pistons 12.5:1
-LS ARP conrodstuds
-ITR ARP headstuds
-Cometic MLS head gasket
-ACL bearings, both main and conrod
-New B16B head
-B16 22T vatnsdæla (but it has 19 teeth??? did i get the wrong part from the store?)
-ITR timing belt
-B16A2 oil pump (do i need to upgrade?)
-Magnetic Oil-Drain plug (for the break-in, but i'll probably leave it in)
-NGK V-power BKR7E spark plugs
-P28 ECU og 310cc injectors

What i'm waiting to arrive from USA:
-Skunk2 Pro Series Intake Manifold (307-05-0280)
-Skunk2 Alpha 70mm ThrottleBody (309-05-1050)
-Crower Stage III Camshafts (BC0023)
-Crower Valvesprings (BC0020)
-Crower Oversized Valves (BC3022 & BC3023)
-Spec Stage 2 Kevlar Street Clutch (SA262)
-Spec Lightweight Flywheel (SA86A)

Future plans include:
-AEM Ignition system (Induvidual Coil on Plug)
-AEM Fuel Rail
-Grams 550cc injectors
-Bosch 044 / Walbro 255
-Skunk2 Headers

I have a OEM B16A2 gearbox to fit with this, but i'm looking to get a S9B tranny from a British B18C6 Civic (VTi)

Both because it has LSD and a higher final drive than the B16A2 tranny... (4.26 opposed to 4.40)

Also looking to buy a block guard to help with the 10.000rpm ;)

Any hp guesses are welcome and suggestions are welcome too...

I will be posting pictures once i start putting things together...

The look of the car will be addressed once the motor has been fired up and taken out for a shake-down & break-in...

Function over Form....

So far, ordered a set of Skunk2 Alpha Exhaust manifold & Exhaust

So intake is a Skunk2 Alpha 70mm TB & Skunk2 intake manifold..

Exhaust is all Skunk2 aswell..

Fuel system is ALL AEM & ignition system & ECU will be AEM aswell...

Valvetrain is all Crower, crankshaft & rods are Eagle & pistons are SRP...

I'm postponing the block guard and i will not be posting the block...

310cc injectors don't really do much so revs will be kept @ 9.250rpm

hoping to put down ~300hp with this setup..

Only "supporting mods" to the block would be ACL race bearings for rods & mains and a racing GIRDLE..

My daughter getting ready to assemble the block... :)

Waiting for crower and skunk2 parts to arrive from USA before i start working on the head..

I sent the crankshaft out for a balance job...

In my opinion you will not do any more then 270hp from this setup (where 270 are very optimistic numbers..) but I wish you luck ofcourse :) Any plans when it should be ready and run?

1/4mile, probably some AutoX too...

GReddy VTEC kit installed...

Got my crankshaft back from the shop today, had it balanced... only had to shave off 4grams...

EAGLE is quality stuff..

I've had a "few"...

If i count the most interesting ones i'd say;

- E60 530d 6spd manual w/exhaust, intake, remap & ported turbo @ 322hp & 716nm
- E39 M5 w/exhaust, intake & vMax delete
- E34 M5 w/exhaust & bilstein sport / eibach suspension
- E34 535i w/HX35 turbo, built motor & bilstein sport / eibach suspension
- E36 320i w/Garret VGT turbo, slap on header, intercooler, SouthBend clutch & otherwise stock, not even studs :')

- Currently building:

E46 335i, OEM 318i w/ M43 motor that i blew a head with MHI 14B turbo...

Installing a M62TUB35 motor with the following internals;
CP Pistons 8.8:1 CR
Carillo rods on stock crank
ARP studs & Stock MLS gasket
Alpina B10 camshafts
E53 X5 oil pan, oil pump & pickup

Will run it naturally aspirated for starters, but will later fabricate exhaust manifolds for twin sequential turbos...

Haven't really decided on the size yet, but i want something that will spool quick...

Not looking for a big increase in horsepower, 450hp should be sufficient with a bigger increase in torque..

VANOS has a big impact on spoolup time, being that it is a M62TU motor...

Hi mate,

Got a B20 myself but a very basic stock build. That is some spec you're building there.

As someone has said above I doubt you will see as much as 300bhp, I could be wrong though as the B20 does really come into its own with better breathing mods.

Even if you don't get 300 you will see massive drivability and low to mid range power, it will be superb to drive.

Mine's about 205 - 210 at the moment and the power delivery is so much better than the B16A1 I had in my CRX. Spins easily in 2nd 3rd especially in the wet due to the torque.

Good luck with it anyway man.

good luck with the build, we fired up our first b20z build last saturday, test drive coming up this weekend :)

couldnt see any conversion kit for the oil? GE kit for example? what about your PCV system? guna need to look into that if you havent already, crankcase pressure is the last thing you need with a b20 build

Yeah, but i'm expecting something closer to 300hp...

My butt dyno will definately tell me it's 1000hp, i'm used to big lumps like the E39 M5 and such... so a light, "fast and furious" car will definately bluff the feel of something more powerful

Will it smoke my Cummins truck, if not... it's POS :')

lots of parts and goodies, cant wait to see how this turns out good luck:nice:

we had a B20 vtec in an EM1 and all I can say is the car was a beast!! We were running it on a standard map but it still had a lot of power and the torque it produced was immense.
You will defo need an LSD gearbox as it will be hard to nail down the power.
