how to get windscreen wiper arms off ?

This is probly simple i unscrewed the bolts holding both arms on but they would not budge i thought i would be able to un screw the bolt and it would come straight off but nope is there a technque to getting them off or do i need to use some force ? would like to take them off to spray them. Thank you in advance everyone

They are a taper fit.

as said they are tapered with splines. Just undo the nuts and then give them a good wiggle! They will come off eventually.

Yeah lift up the wiper, at the hinge bit, and it should pop off, I was very confused with this when I did it recently..

Yeah when the wipers are flat the spring is making the arm sit ever so slightly at an angle on the spline so making it tight, lifting it up shifts the weight so that the arm sits straight and should just slide off. Maybe use a small amount of penetrating oil if it's still a bit tight.

Just try and remember how the arm fits to the spline so that you put it back on in the right place.

cheers for all he replys everyone going to have ago at the weekend. Doesnt look like they have been off in a while so probly a little wd40 and they should come straight off
