my friend is trying to buy some lips off ebay and the seller is in California usa and he is here in the uk and so he was woundering if he's going to have to pay import taxes. thanks

i think you only pay import taxes on electronics like ecu' etc, i bought many parts from usa and never had to pay the taxes except for the one time i got a ecu for a jetski.

I've had it a few times buying from Japan, when I got hit it was VAT plus a holding cost. Usually only on big items or expensive ones. Not always will you have to but probably half the times you will end up paying customs.

depends how much the seller puts on the value!

ask him to mark as "gift" and not to put value over £36,up to them thou if they do it or not!

ive been taxed on a few items,it doesnt matter what it is you buy if its worth over 100 pounds and is still valued at that from seller you will have to pay import tax wether it big, small

I got taxed on my snare that i had built from america, was something like £40 and the value was marked down to £250 iirc.
