Finally i decided on the ACt clutch kit. I know many members track their cars regularly and i really want to hear their opinions on this. I`ll be using a spring Centered 6 Pad Disc but i`m torn between the sport and the heavy duty pressure plate. My car is a daily drive mainly and don`t plan on making more power past 240hp (stock b18c currently). So i don`t want to have a very stiff pedal for no reason, but on the other hand i want to improve power transmission as well. What do you guys think?

In my opinion your pedal will be stiff, as double as the oem, and you'll have to release the clutch pedal gently on a daily drive basis.

Ho many km / miles you drive daily? if you drive in the city, stop and go scenario your left foot will be in pain lol!

:D

sport is more than enough for what you specify, sold mine recently having run 1 for good few years (cant remember exactly which sport model)

never slipped, aggresive engagement, mine wasnt noisy but some people say they are, tiny bit of judder when setting of from lights now and again but got used to controlling clutch after few weeks, all these factors were fine for daily car imh although annoying on the lazy days when your just having simple drive to shops

as for pedal feel, absolute horrible, double maybe triple that of oem clutch, this is the reason i recently sold mine and bought new oem itr clutch kit, for daily drivin the ACT just got too much and many who drove my car agreed, when on track it was fine and clutch never crossed my mind though

ACT = trash
Splines were messed up on all 3 orders from them and really pissed me off.

ACT is trash~!:secret:

i forgot to add ACT customer service is very poor, if you have fault they dont want to know

for the money id say better out there than act

I might do 20km/day at the most, but mainly in highways and b-roads. I`ve driven a friends` ep3 with an act and it was really STIFF, but he was using the heavy duty pressure plate.

Hmm.. ACT was one of the cheapest i found (excluding exedy). 288 pounds delivered to my doorstep. Got any other suggestions? looked into Ogura, centerforce and F1...

I have to disagree with the ACT is trash comments and feel that is an unfair representation. Ive sold doxens of them in the past and used an ACT on my own car for the past 31K miles without issues. Never had a problem with them supplying the right items either.

Its unfair just to call ACT products trash, the quality is very good.

in my experience i couldnt fault the quality of the act i had

options id happily run are helix and ap racing, i think there in same kinda price range, theres others but very expensive

What i`ve been reading here about ACT i`ve been experiencing here with daikin/exedy. ACT can`t be trash, like exedy can`t be trash. Some people probably exaggerate.
edit: if i found ap racing for 288 pounds i`d gladly take it, but they seem to run far more expensive than that.

Well I can certainly see your dismay with the product. What car were you fitting this to?

And did you contact ACT directly to express your concerns with the quality of the product you had bought?

What did the garage say that were trying to fit the clutch for you?

I have to say I have never seen any problems with ACT clutches like you've experienced, never had issues with fitment either.

Thought i`d give a preview after having done 10K km`s with this clutch so it might help anyone in the future looking to change/upgrade their clutch. I use a spoon flywheel too, bought off Duncan.

Clutch kit: ACT Spring Centered 6 Pad disk with ACT sports pressure plate.

use is mixed: in traffic jams and in back roads and mountain passes.

First 500 km`s where a nightmare! Engagement was sudden, stiff and rough. Pedal feel twice as hard than oem and juddered 90% the times, but things improved drastically through the following 1000 km`s.
Bite is hard and pedal feels say 10%-20% harder than oem b18c clutch. Engagement is much more smoother and easy to manipulate like in uphill starts if you live in an area with many uphills with traffic lights like i do. Power delivery is excellent, and in every shift up car feels like it`s jumping ahead the moment i release the pedal!! Judders only when backing up uphills to park etc, other than that no juddering issues. Quiet operation, nice feeling and really made a difference in the 1/4 mile dropping my time a whole 0.3 seconds!!!!!
Now under abuse in track days, touges etc performance was really good to me, given that i haven`t tried no other than oem clutch so far, no smells, no juddering, no heating.

If someone asked "is it worthy?" i`d recommend the ACT kit in a heart beat.

be carefull of very stiff clutches, if teh pressure plate / clutch cover is too stiff the resultant force can push your crank into your thrust washers breaking the oil film, only seen this happen on vw16v`s however just something to bear in mind

With all your concerns about reliability, ease of use and effectiveness it sounds to me as if you need an OEM CTR/IR clutch.

just took out a 6 pedal act complete kit today to check it only to find it is like new
this kit was used by kris dunlop in the civic and i have used it for seven one day tarmac rallys
clutch pedal is a bit heavy but you soon get used to it :nice:

here`s what i came across after 21.000 km`s. Total disappointment.... But hey, we`re not here only for the good things.

This happened to me too. Every oil change i had a big amount of metallic dust on my magnetic drain plug.
