Intake Options

stock air box does have great throttle reponse, i kept the stock box on my daily drive which was a 96 civic coupe. just used a drop in k&n filter and rmoved the U bend thing.

i dont think other intakes reduce tq though, even though they are sucking in hotter air they are still sucking in MORE air so they still increase your hp and tq.

cool, I guess others have done it too! It's way cheaper and you can do it yourself..

I've read up some facts on intake that I thought I might like to share..

-Cold air intakes increases more mid range and topend power which would be from before the 2nd cam comes on.
-Pod filter/short ram increases low end power and response but suffers high mid range and top end due to the decrease of density of hot air.

I don't think it's worth the $$$ to spend on something that just alters where you want your power.

Real Cold air intakes would always keep your engines consistancy on making power and wont get affected by heat. Where as pod filters inside the engine bay would operate very good within the first 20 mins, but will get affected by decrease of density of air.

Just like turbo cars need colder denser air.. You will notice that your boost readings on a turbo car will register 1 or 2psi more in winter than in summer on the same setting because of the density of air.

Peace!
