OK I thought I will start a new thread with this question, which some of you might have seen already in the intake section.

I am getting skeptical about adding bolt on modification to my EK9.

I just don't know if for say a simple intake and a catback exhaust system, spark plug leads, spark plugs, earthing kit, etc etc

Will I see a improvement in the cars performance. basically will I have more power, to see a difference in a drag race with a stock one.

I know alot of say you see a gain, like 7-10hp, but in term of reality does that really improve on the road over a stock one?

I just don't want to be spending so much and only feel/hear the difference, e.g. like intake roar.

So let me know the experience you have guys

On any N/A car you have to spend a lot to get worthy gains, what do you mean by etc as it could cover a lot? With a only a catback & basic intake gains will be minimal, noise on the car will change maybe fooling you into noticing any gain, with what you 'have' listed I'd say no difference over stock. Main question is how far you want to tune, you need a target to get an idea of cost & then decide how far to take it.

if you want to really feel a difference turbo it, it not then save up and spend all the money at once and buy and install:

4.785 or 4.9 FD
skunk2 stage2 cams
valvesprings/retainers
intake
complete exhuast system from head back
ems
mill the head .020
68mm TB
port the head if you have extra money
forget about leads and spark plugs.

that should be good for about a 30whp increase.

as blinx says bolt ons will not add much power to a standard motor but the more you tune the motor these bolt ons will make a bigger differrence! so if you want power you will need to do internal engine work to get results! so set yourself a budget and what you use the car for and work from there!

hmmm. as I thought I might just save money on whatever i was going to buy and do internal engine work instead.

but then again induction system will need to be improved? if I say change to 68mm TB?

thanks again guys
