Hello all and merry Christmas ! I have been a lurker on this site for quite some time and have decided to actually become a member of the site as I give it two thumbs up !
Baa ha, excuse the corniness. Corniness... Is that a word ? Eh who cares. Anyway, I like to write a bit so those that aren't keen on reading have been forewarned ! Lol. Here we gooooooo......
So I've been in the whole import scene for some time. I suppose it all started back when I was in my teenage years playing Playstation 1 (Gran Turismo) in the early 90's. I started with a few cars in my driving "career" that are a bit varied. I had to learn to drive at an early age because our home was located a fair distance from the school that I attended. The first car I drove "legally" was a 1988 Toyota Corolla FX hatchback. Not the best looking of cars but my what a reliable vehicle. I truly appreciated Japanese engineering from this little car as my entire family used it. After that I drove a 1978 Ford Bronco that was an absolute beautiful brute but had constant carbeurator problems. Neat story about this vehicle is that down the line it appeared in a movie with Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg a few years back it was named "Two Guns". It's a decent story I'll tell you sometime if you'd like. Anyway.....
One summer I worked two jobs, 16 hours a day to purchase my OWN vehicle as I was rather over the idea of sharing a vehicle with my siblings. I purchased a 2000 Chevrolet s-10 single cab pickup, lowered with wheels. It was a beautiful little truck but what terrible quality and reliability... It me with a distaste for U.S. domestic vehicles for sure or newer age ones anyway. After that, I was in college and needed a reliable vehicle to get me hitherto. I thus turned to Japanese once again. I purchased a 2002 Honda Civic Si Ep3. Owned it a few years, kept up with maintenance and meticulously serviced the vehicle. Unfortunately I was involved in an accident a few years after ownership which resulted in me having to make a choice whether or not to piece the car out as the front was extremely thrashed. I lost pictures of the accident/damage but here is somewhat of a before and after picture....
So the Ep3 ended up with quite a bit of upgrades compared to when I took ownership:

Here is the most recent picture of said vehicle:
It's funny.... We over here in the U.S. spend a small fortune making a car look and perform close to "Type R" and you gents across the way receive it such, stock ! Lol. Anyway, the car ended up being garaged the majority of the time. So here I come to the most relevant part of the story......
I had a USDM Ej6 Civic Hatchback that I was using to get around and loved the fuel economy and how nimble the vehicle was. Mind you, it was completely stock, no modifications prior to the subsequent picture:
I kept the car clean and maintained it.
But then let my father use it for about a year.... Here were the results......
