So long time no action with the ek9.
Still not found the lost fluidampr, still not moved into our first home, still not got the car on the dyno.... you get the idea lol
One thing i did do was replaced my maxed out Injector Dynamics 725s with a set of Grams 1000s.
First impressions, i prefer the feel and look of the IDs. The top hats are better finished and have the retaining clip on them. I do like the fitting parts you get with the Grams though.
One thing i instantly noticed is that the car now has abit of boost creep going on. Ive only ran on wastegate pressure so far bit it will creep from 0.45bar up to just over 0.6 by redline so nothing severe but it certainly wasnt there before i fitted the Grams. All ive done with the tune is scaled the injectors in and fixed a hot start AFR issue ive had so its not in the tune. Only thing i can think of is either i had a leak from the injector seals in the manifold under boost or the air and fuel is being better mixed with the Grams and its now too efficient for the 38mm gate on low boost. Either way its not a huge issue and ive now got enough injector size to see this turbo well and truely maxed out once a 3" downpipe and tial housing is sorted.
One of my compaints about the car is the apparent lack of rear grip i have, im always having to correct it which really dents my confidence in the car. Well i think i found out why....
My Dunlop Dz03G ive had on the back for a good 2-2.5 years including some road milage, the surface has gone solid lol imagine a kids trike or something that has plastic wheels on it and its almost like that.
So new rear tyres where much needed. Opted for some R888R, didnt even read reviews on them but i know theyll be fine on the back end of my car. Hoping to get back to how it was afew years ago when i had good confidence in the car, this will help im sure!
Im at snetterton tomorrow for the first trackday since the nurburgring trip! Hopefully it stays as reliable as it has been(ignore the pulley incident) and i can have some fun with it.
