j's racing intake.

a friend has one on his ek9 and they sound awesome when it comes into vtec
i also think they look good as well, they have a large air storage chamber in the ram pipe that stores air and when the engine comes into vtec the air is evacuated into the engine ,they are supposed to get good torque gains ,but with any open coned short ram intake its gonna suffer from heat soke from being directly exposed to hot under bonnet temperatures

I agree with vtec, its a good intake but it sucks hot air, I installed a custom made intake system because of this. :)

thank you for the replies :)....
i was wondering whether a velocity stack or an air duct covering the open air filter would help?! j's made one for the s2k. dunno about the civic though..:(
is there an solution to help prevent the heat soak?

Well i dont have an EK9 but will an EK4 do??

I really like this intake - it looks great - sounds great. I am going to fit a cold air feed soon enough!

It feels great in lower rpm over stock throttle response is better, i dont know which air feed i'm going to use! more than likely i will make my own, but i dont want to make a hole in my bumper or even for anyone to see it.

I have the same intake as well and it is:nice:
Why the design is so fat of the intake is because it can storge more air as normal and when you really step on the gas it get better respon for the car

hey.. i am thinking about replacing my stupid ARC induction box with one of these ...do you know the prices and how to solve the heat soaks..i heard cold air intakes are at the bottom of the car ..and my car is really low it may get crushed on the humps and ...if i drive thro water .... so i dont kno if i wanna do that ..i was thinking of running an Air duct or somehting ..help me out please.:thanks:

tycovic: the cold air intakes may touch water if you run over heavy puddles. it will not get crushed unless you fly into a speed hump. i thought your car was on stock suspension?!

the heat soak mentioned is something i would like a bit of help with also :)

babyface: yea my car is on stock suspension ..but the humps here are big sometimes lollol and certain places tend to flood in the hurricane season... in the caribbean... so that is a risk ... it may be all good but never know ...weather is unpredictable ...and the way our land is here ..that might not be a good choice for me.

tycovic: hurricane..... take care of your car and yourself!! o_O
i've asked you a couple of times already now about your suspension. :) it just looks alot lower than stock height

well the fact that it has on 195/50 r 15 tyres instead of the 55 ... it will be lower also.

ohhh and thanks man ... i will try my best ..but when a hurricane hits what can u really do lolol.

ahhh, J's Racing intake....this is my next project intake once my car gets inspected and registered... I'll be removing my rather good stock intake to install this with cold air induct + heat shield. I've got the part already and those who have seen or have 'A GENUINE' J's RACING CARBON intake would understand how BIG and well it's design is. The Pod filter you get with it is amazingly huge! and not as simple as normal pod filters... i'll be posting some pics of the intake soon.

This will pump up the power, response and sound of the VTEC roar big time.

I have A J's racing carbon intake. the induction noise from it is very loud and when vtec comes its very very very loud I love the sound of it and performance wise you will notice a increase defently worth buying

WOW im excited!! :nerv: :nice: rvvooooommmm BAAAAAAAAAAR! hehehe

intake designs vary hugely, all the "good" ones usually have specific purpose and some have overall compromise, oem usually compromise most simply due to fact that mass market needs quieter car and less chance of water ingress

some intakes aimed at bhp gains thorughout, some bhp gains top end, some torque gains and other 1 is throttle response, your choice comes down to what the driver wants

ive never seen j's up closebut does look like its aimed at throttle response

someone mentioned velocity stack, part of that principal is incorporated into most intakes (all oem do) which lot of people dont realise and is simply the way forward BUT not really something you can just mock up or buy, has to be designed specifically and tested on dyno for your car/engine to get best from your car

i have feeling the j's will will incorporate part of v stack principal somewhere
