i just bought 4-2-1 headers for my ek and a full 2 1/2 inch exhaust and hoping it would sound nice and clean it eneded up sounding like a fart can i have a d16y7 motor and i know its more of a economical motor then anything but i wanted to get a little bit more power out of her and get better gas millage.i was wondering why it sounds like that and if there are any ways i can have my ek sound clean without attracting attention but also get a little bit of power from d16y7.my headers and exhaust are no name, would greatly appreciate the help thanks

1st problem is your no name parts, you always get what you pay for.

Did you leave your cat on?

what kind of headers and exhaust would you recommend for the best performance wise but also quite and stay lo key

awsome thats exactly what im looking for, also is there a website were you buy your parts from that have good prices and aren't going to over charge me

Firstly your car isn't an EK9 like your title says :slap: and secondly if you buy cheap parts your going to get poor quality :wtf:

I'd have thought that fitting a different airbox would add a bit of extra noise if thats what youre after rather than dyno proven power gains.

Ek9's with D16Y7's are powerful enough...don't know why your upgrading the exhaust. :D

i used the 60mm, still use it, Apexi WS cat back. Even with my d16y8. I like it.
Im getting ready to pull it off to install a skunk2 system tho.

ohh okkay so i have a ek3??my friends have always said my honda was a ek9 and i thought it was just based of the body style thats why its called ek9 but thanks all this helps me so i know what im talking about and learning alot from all you

okkay so to make this clear i have a ek3??cuase i have ppl tell me its an ek9 so i thought it was a ek9 and thanks to all for the help just trying to learn more about jdm and getting more involved

Check your vin plate to confirm it, ek9's will have either e-ek9 or gf-ek9 but as everyone has stated yours sounds like an ek3
