Hi guys. Hoping maybe you can help me here as I have tried hi and low and my mech has as well and we just can't find the problem. When ever I leave the car standing(example - after I come home from work and park the car in the garage till the next morning) and then get and drive I get this once off clunk/knock sound when I turn left for the first time. Almost as if something shifts position. Also every now and again while driving and turning left, I hear this sound almost sounds like a dull cluk cluk cluk sound. Funny thing is it is not all the timeand the clunk only happens once. I doesn't happen again until I leave the car standing for a while. Now I sent the car to the mechanic as I couldn't find the problem and my CV's had just been done(I suspected one of them). I got my lower balljoints, stabiliser links and rack ends replaced. Got the car back and the noise went away for a day or two, and then returned. Sent the car back to the mech, who has checked everything, including the CV's and says that he can't find it. It seems to only happen under load as well as on the hoist it doesn't do anything. Upper balljoints where replaced last year feb as welll so ya. I'm clueless now as to what it could be. Any ideas /insight would be appreciated.

mine had this exact problem, i was missing the bolts from my camber adjusters. but as you've said you checked all the upper joints etc. maybe top rounds? spring movement in coilovers ?

lower ball joint not fully tightened?

I will double check this, when the ball joint was replaced, I did notice that the circlip wasn't fully 'in'. It didn't rotate but say half the clip wasn't in the groove... Ill check this out. Maybe ill also take the UCAs out and check the bushings as well myself as I know I replaced the drivers side 2 years back...

Well, I replaced both UCAs and balljoints as well as making sure I got that circlip in. Also lubed up where the outer cv meets the hub as I read that could also cause a knocking soubd on pull off. Need to take the car for more test drives to see but from what I can see I still have the problem. Need to pin point it etc to make exactly sure. Btw I don't have coilovers, I have S2 sleeves

did you ever find the cause? im having a very similar problem except mine does more than one clunk and only seems to do it at low speeds usually when pulling off in 1st.. does not do it in reverse though. and only when turning right.

I'm almos certain its an outer cv, although when the car is warm it goes away. Getting the outer CVs checked today.

yeah thats sort of what mine does but only when youve been driving it for a good few hours it goes away.. and ok let me know please, mines going up on ramps monday.

I have my cvs looked at today so needa do some driving to check it out and see if its gone. Only when mine was cold was I hearing that CV cluk cluk sound. When the car was warm it was fine. Will let you know if it has been fixed.

Think I've worked out what the problem with mine is. Makes me sound really silly but it has a aftermarket lsd fitted and apperantly the oil needs changing regulary otherwise it gets noisey and clunks. Has yours got a aftermarket lsd on? If it has, might be worth changing the oil. I'm going to do mine tomorrow, will let you know how it goes.

I wish I had an lsd lol. Nah it was defo my outer cvs. My mechy swapped them around for me so we could check. So far first test drive I haven't heard anything, however car is at the body shop atm getting some rust spots removed from the sunroof edges. When I get it back and am able to drive it somemore ill let you know. Good to know you found your problem man.
