Hi,

A friend of mine has just purchased an ek4 fitted with Koni adjustable shocks all round. The front in particular is sitting way too low for DD so we had a look at raising it up at the weekend.

However it was not clear to me how to adjust the height on these....and after researching them, Im thinking maybe the threaded collar has been added, possibly aftermarket? as I cannot find any pictures of these as they are in the pics.

It looks to me like I will need to take apart the component, and set the bottom on the threaded collar up a notch (engraved ring visible on the shock) which may have a C clip holding it etc.?

I know I could gain a few mm by increasing the rebound but I dont want to do that if I can help it due ride quality.

Anyone have experience with these, would appreciate your input!

Fronts are Koni 1152Sport.

Cheers

Ali.

Those sleeves are not Koni.

Wind the collar up to raise, down to lower.

Thought so, cheers Kozy.

So litterally we will have to wind the collar up the thread, to increase the rebound, heighten it up?

Or do you think I can sit this sleeve further up the original shock? hmmmm.

Koni Sport dampers have a circlip that you can move into one of I think three positions. Don't think this is really any different from winding the perch though, unless you're maxed out of thread in one direction.

The perch won't affect rebound though, that's the adjuster on the top of the damper. :nice:

The 1152Sport damper only has two grooves to adjust height, and you´re maxed out unfortunately. :/ The rear has three grooves.

When I installed mine, I did the rookie mistake of putting the dampers too far down into the forks, which made the header scrape during braking(!), no mistake like that on your part? Or rather whoever installed them.
The dampers will go further down than they should, as there is a little something protruding from it further up the damper. This mislead me to believe that they were supposed to be installed that far down the fork. No such luck.

Thanks for the info.

My friend who has these has now since bought a set of Apexi N1's which I will be fitting for him this weekend.

TBH the reason his is so low with these as well is because the car is fitted with Buddyclub Ball joints which lower the front end -10mm and is running 195/45/15. So I'm sure it would actually be a ok height on most other cars.
