Hi,

Im new to civics due to always having fiestas.

First bought the car and it was brilliant but now it seems to be lacking power!

Any clues on what to check?

B16a2.

Cheers

Oxygen sensor, its in the manifold under the car these can go without chucking up fault lights.

Id be checking your ignition components before your lambda sensor etc. A good spark is essential for b series.

I'd check VTEC. Pull out the cable from your VTEC solenoid. This will disable VTEC. Drive the car untill it's warm, go all the way to the revlimiter. Now put the cable back in. Do the same, revlimiter. Does it feel faster? Do you hear VTEC kicking in? If not -> VTEC doesn't work.

Doesn't matter; your ECU does nothing with your lambda on WOT, it will run of a fixed mapping.

What's brought you to the vague conclusion its lacking power ?
More information and effort into finding out the problem before anyone here can truly help you. As long as the history of the engine and your maintenance is good it shouldn't anything serious.

Could be as simple as you've gotten used to the b16.

X2 gotta explain a little more buddy :)

Oil was fine, checked everyday as im weird like that. Plenty of fuel.

Only had car two weeks so not getting used to power just yet, had a 1.6 fiesta before hand

Basically, I got a new back box (supersprint) and all was fine, then about 2 days later it started being slower in low revs, really boggy and Vtec kicked in and worked fine.

It was that bad, I got over taken by a 1.7 ford puma which has not been modded.

My engine was freshly serviced and always kept on top of oil before me.

Those puma's are quick remember

Standard puma got flattened by my mates EK4 ...

They are only 123bhp roughly so I shouldnt be losing out so much
