I cant seem to shift a blaupunkt Slim Amp i have from years ago so ive decided to use it in my ek9 to imporve the sound system as like most cars from the 90's the stereo is prety ****.

I can wire one in no problem but im undecided where to put it and a small Sub (speaker only) My first thoughts were in the board over the spare wheel well but undecided wheather to use a thicker piece of wood and how to secure it without screwing it directly into the floor.

Has anyone got a small sub fitted in ther ek? And if so could u post pics & info?

This kid removes back seats, adds a light weight exhaust and light weight spoon mirrors aswell as light weight strut brace and light weight alloys to stick a sub in the boot.....
Good fail there p!!!!

Lol there always has to be a compromise! Were talking like 6-8 Kg max here and i need some bass in my life!

What u even doing here anyways shouldnt u be lurking on BMW forums now!

I have mounted my sub in the spare wheel well. Its in my build thread , Page 11 :nice:

Doesn't move about as its a sung fit on the plastics and doesnt need to be secured.

I can take more photos of what I've done if you need them.

Awsome thanks robbie il check it out :nice:

+Rep for u mate!

Nice one thanks!

The only reason I made the risen floor for it was cause the sub I had wasn't short enough but also ment I have some extra storage for silly little items that would roll around the boot!

Any other questions or measurments etc. just give me a shout :nice:

My recommendation would be a good set of front components with separate tweeter mounted behind the wing mirrors combined with an alpine head unit with their 100w booster.

Should satisfy without too much weight :)

I have Upgraded to JBL's front and rear and have a premium sony headunit with booster but the bass is still very very poor. May look into some tweeters behind the mirror cover. Possibly some out an ek4 for a nice OEM finish.

Thanks for the advice mate :nice:

Also just like to point out the "LIGHT" part of the thread title is refering to a minimal amout of equipment. Not specificaly the actual weight of the equipment.

If you go for the components then its very easy to pull the OEM tweeter apart and stick an aftermarket one on there. Did require some gluing though. Should also be in my build thread :nice:

Thanks again mate

Do you think your enclosure set up would work eithout rear seats?

No problem :nice:

Yes it works fine without the rear seats in place. Doesn't need them in place to stay put if that's what you meant?

Quick additional question - is there still such a thing as a slimline underseat sub still, or will a decent head unit and 6.5" components be OK? I don't want to rattle windows, just decent balance and a little bass/ mid infill.
Thanks :)
