Living with a carbon bonnet

Hi all! my mate has offered me a carbon bonnet at a very good price, im on the verge of buying it, although what are peoples experences with them? how do they cope with stonechips, snow and ice? and are they easy to keep clean? as my car is a daily drive, do people with carbon bonnets keep them just for the summer, or rock them year round? cheers :)
 
I've had one fitted for a few months now.

You can hear the engine alot more as its thinner. Also you need to look into how you are going to secure it, I still use the OEM catch and then 2 bonnet pins.

The fit is never perfect on them, I have a larger wing gap on the passenger side than the drivers side.

With regards to stone chips I havent got any on mine but the laquer has started to crack on it.

i polish and wax mine like the rest of the car only thing is i use a black polish to help fill in swirls marks better , mines attached exactly like an oem bonnet the two hinges at the rear and then the latch at the front .
 
What type black polish like shoe polish?

Engine noise is increased, no stone chips on mine. Get prepared for ppl saying omg is that carbon wraped looks cool hahaha ejits
 
shoe polish .... are you drunk lol

the like of black hole by poorboys or recently i have used autosmart cheery glaze and has covered any swirls up well , you can also buff the bonnet!

Shoe polish works wonders lol
 
Just maintain it using polish and wax to seal it.
Im running a js racing one on the teg, soon as i brought it i ditched the crusty bonnet pins and brought some propper Aerocatches. Looks much neater and is more importantly safer/secure. Cleaning wise isnt an issue as mine is colour coded.
The laquer might get stone chipped just like any other bonnet. Dont worry about it just put it on :)

Speaking of car products does any one no were i can get jetseal by chemical guys ny online shops my local is out of stock.
