low compression

I have just had my head rebuilt and bought a rebuilt b16b bottom end witch only coverd about 2000 miles. The head is a b18c4. an put it all back together an started it up. it now smokes i have so far done 230 miles since the rebuild and havnt gone above 4000rpm an havnt touch vtec. it only smokes when at about 3000 revs. so i thought id.compression test an do a leak down test.
my results from the compression test was
1. 190
2.235
3.233
4.237
i then put a teaspoon of oil into no1 and re tested and was then reading 238.
witch made me think rings?. can anyone help on other things it.could be
 
Sounds like No.1 compression rings are shot.
 
Yeah thats what im thinking to. question is do i only change the rings for no.1 or all of them? seeing as the others are all good just no.1
 
it doesnt worth it opening the head and changing only number 1 rings and if number 1 are worn out others may worn soon so just replace them all me!! and to be honest in your place i would have done that from the first time!!
 
Do them all. If you're doing the rings then you might as well do the bearings as well while the whole lot is out.
 
Yeah the only reason i didnt.change nothing in the bottom end was because the kid had it rebuilt an only had about.2000 miles on it plus had all the recipts for parts fitted.to.the.bottom.end. alao had videos of.car running.on the.dyno with no burning.oil or smoke and ran fine
 
As Kozy said already, best of doing it all if you are going to strip it all down. Won't have to do it again after it's all done that way. :)
 
Yeah. looks like thats the way to go. would i need to get theblock honed or can i just take the pistons out fit new rings an bearings an put back together
 
Get oversized pistons and rebore. It's the only way to ensure you won't hit this problem again.
 
I have some oversize B16B pistons for sale if you need some.
 
Check the valve job while your at it and maybe re lap them.
 
have you played with the idea of a K power plant?
 
thats a bit extreme, the man needs rings and shells and tama suggests a k20? sorry but no disrespect, that seems over the top mate.
