Make an own speed limit defender?

I was thinking, isn't it easy to make an own speed limit defender? Read the following part about how the HKS Speed Limit Defencer works:

In Hondas, loss of the VSS (vehicle speed) signal will cause the ECU program to go into the backup safe mode. In addition, it will invoke a trouble code of 17 (for EF8/EF9 CRX/Civic SiR) indicating 'faulty vehicle speed sensor'. In the HPL archives, Doug MacMillion said that cutting off the VSS signal will also stop the ECU from engaging the high cam lobes for the B16A.

The HKS Speed Limit Defencer (SLD) device works by intercepting the VSS signal and substituting its own signal to the ECU. This device has four wires, two of them for power and ground and of the other two, one receives the VSS signal and the other feeds a substitute signal into the ECU.

When the SLD device detects that the VSS signal is indicating that the car is travelling at 180kph, it substitutes a signal to the ECU indicating a lower speed. Because the VSS signal is not a major parameter used by the engine ECU to control engine operation, this method effectively bypasses the artificial 180kph top speed limit in the best manner.

Wouldn't it be possible to make an own defender? From what I understand, all you need to do is have a small pcb that creates the right pulse at the right voltage, that will be sent through 1 wire. Then 2 wires for electricity. That should work, shouldn't it? Should save up to 80% of the price of an HKS SLD and this will, just like the HKS LSD, not affect your cluster readings. Maybe it doesn't matter for a lot of people here cause you need mph reading and you can buy that small device, but there are enough people with a km/h reading that could use this.

Everyone is shocked, because of my intelligence?

you could do all of that, or you could just go on ebay and buy a converter unit for £15 which delimits and converts the speedo at the same time :p (i.e many other people have already done the same thing).

it's not a new idea.

LOL alot safer and time saving.

I said in my first post that I need km/h on my speedo so I don't have use for a converter.

thats interesting jt, i got km/h aswell, but im clueless with elecctronics tho...r u gunna try this out?

Yeah....that HKS SLD thing is way overpriced at 100 euro's, for a device that send out pulses and nothing more...

in australia its like $300, which its like £150...plz update with this, good luck with it bro..

It will take some time before I can begin making something myself, since I first have to await my engine swap and then install it ;)

B16A probably so it will be speed limited...
