Management light?

Yo folks,

Little problem,

My engine management light came on today whilst driving. Stopped, turn her off, turned her back on and it went off. keep driving for like 10 seconds or so and comes back on. Note, while the engine light is on the drive is completely the same. No noises, VTEC still engages as normal, no power loss what so ever. Nothing changes.

I could pull up leave it for a while, get back in and drive it for about 3 minutes then it will come on again.

Now ive checked all the visible senses etc to see if any are loose and found nothing.

Now normally when the engine light comes on the vtec stops engaging as a safety, now why is this time any different?

Ive been looking all ove the engine for any signs but nothing.

Now by what ive explained does anyone know what it could be.

Now i have brands hatch booked this Wednesday and would like to get this sorted. Even though the drive is not effected, still a bit worrying.

Have you tried to see what error code it's throwing up? That'll give you your problem!
 
Not yet, i forgot what pins to bridge.

Also i havent got a code list, is it somewhere on this forum?
 
the reason i said that because engine will run the same if o2 sensor un-plug or gone on some other vehicle.
I dont know vtec not kicks in on ek9 when this happen.
so its kinda put it to lim mode.
 
i havent checked yet. Just being lazy as i drove 140mile round trip with the light on and gave it a good driving hard and is completely normal. Drives perfect. Drove it today again and the same soo...

I'll crack on at brands and then sometime on the weekend i'll try and get those codes up. It must be a dodgy sensor, and not an important one at that.

Update: Ive just brought up some codes. Thing is i have my SRS/Engine and ABS light flashing???

Its brought up 16(which isnt listed for my car unless i have to refer it as a 94+ integra?)

18 which isnt even listed on the page?? and 61.

So going by the ABS flashes ive got:
*61-Oxygen Sensor, Heated - Sensor 1 (Primary) high voltage, low voltage, or slow response

and possibly:
*16- Fuel Injector System defective circuit or unplugged / defective fuel injector


Going by the Engine check light flashes ive got:
*41- Primary Oxygen Sensor - Heater circuit malfunction
41

And going by the SRS light flashes ive got:

*11- Not on the list???

*21- VTEC Solenoid Valve defective circuit or unplugged / defective solenoid valve (invalid code for non-VTEC engine (invalid for V6 engine) (Again this code is listed for 94+ Tegs)

And remember, My car is still running absolutely perfectly. No cut out/missfire. Nothing. Runs as per normal, just engine check light comes on. When it comes on nothing changes.

Can anyone give any suggestions? Some of the more technical people on here?

This exact same thing happened to me in my VTi when it had B16a2 and it was the lamda sensor/oxygen sensor on the manifold - replaced and code went away.

The car run fine and VTEC and all that jazz was still working fine.

First time ive seen this thread as well mate - could have told you this was the solution a long while ago !

How much are these sensors to buy from Honda if you can remember from the top of your head? If yours did the same thing then i can only imagine i have the same problem.

Im gona get under and check it now. Might have come loose.

The one i took off my car looked fine but obv wasnt ! so you prob wont be able to tell.

Honda wanted £120 - 140 if i can remember.

I bought a Lucas one (didnt come in a honda box but had the honda clip on it ad was exact same as one i took off) which is the supplier for honda for £84 but that was due to knowing someone from a dealership.
 
Dude, i just checked and the 2 prongs had come out. Wacked em back in and jobs a gooden. Light doesnt come on :nice:
