Mass Airflow Sensor

Hey guys,

So my civic keeps on "hunting" where it will be at quite high revvs when I turn it on, then after I give it any sort of acceleration, it will start to rev high then drop back down,

Everyone is saying I need a new airflow sensor,

However I have no idea where to get one?

Do any of you have any other solutions as to what it could be or where I can get an Airflow sensor, i've looked on ebay and there only seems to be ones for a 2.2Tdi civic

I got a 1995 Ek4 b16 if that helps.

Thanks all,

Michael

Hi mate, had a similar issure with my old SiR and turned out to be the IACV (idle air control valve) was clogged, sits down behing the intake manfold simple to take off ( couple small pipe and couple bolts if i remeber right)and clean with brake cleaner.

Its not the mass airflow sensor.... because the B series engines don't have one :)

As above check the IACV, also check for vacuum leaks, i tend to use a bit of hose (big fuel line, anything 1/4"ID or more) stuff one end in your ear and the other trace around all the joins on the inlet between the throttle body and head, if you hear hissing round a gasket or similar it could be letting air in causing hunting.

So, I checked the IACV, and cleaned it, it... KIND of fixed the problem , it now warms up then starts to do it, a Mechanic guessed that I would need a new IACV,

I saw one on Ebay for a D16z6 Engine, I have a B16c, If I bought it, would there be any downside to getting this?

Thanks,

I may be wrong but i dont think a b series one will be the same as a D series? never really heard one a IACV totally packing up and needing replaced.

:/

Darn, I'm not quite sure what to do about the hunting then, he said he checked for air leaks and couldn't find anything, so it "must have been the iacv"

If the coolant system isn't bled properly it will hunt. Try bleeding it?

Just to let you all know that A lot of the sensors were ****ed, eg, Knock Sensor, o2 Sensor, Radiator Sensor;

I bought a new radiator sensor, got a new ecu, loom and that, This ECU has launch control and a shift light! (my engine light pops on at around 8000 :D)
