Moaning Noise at Speed

So...Whilst driving at speed, my car makes a weird moaning noise. Doesnt sound like a bad noise, just loud and annoying. While driving at lower speeds, you cannot hear the moan, but when around 50/60+, you can clearly hear the moan gettign louder. To me it sounds like it may be the tires but, i have never heard wheels moan this loud before. To describe the sound in detail, it would be like the actual tire rubbing against something (which it is not). Could it just be my tires and loud road noise since they were in storage for the winter and the rubber may have 'hardened'? Any thoughts?

girlfriend or wheel bearing on the way out would be my first thought. :naughty:

2x increased moaning with speed is likely girlfriend getting old/worn. Girlfriend delete is a decent weight saving mod so defo one to think about

Haha I was about I put this.
It's either that or motherbearing. Try replacing with dadbearing or matebearing. If the problem persists turn up music to drown out moaning
If like you say it's because it's got hard on the outside, beat untill soft and moaning has stopped.

Maybe the moaning is you?
On a serious note can you pin-point where it's coming from? Front back left right?

How old are they tyres? You say it was in storage? Any more details on that
You got any other tyres/wheels you could try?
Also after a longish drive with light breaking are any of your calipers much hotter than others?

From what I can hear, it seems as if it is coming from the front left tires, but my girlfriend says she hears it from the rear right...so i told her to stick her head out the window and listen for it, she didnt think that was funny.

Tires are only a year or so old. Storage for only the winter (4-6 months here in the UK). I do have other wheels but it was not making the noise with those on it when they were on (they caused different road noise). Havent checked the heat of my calipers but, i dont do long drives in the car (maybe 30 min) and it will still make the noise. Its not a daily driver...only a non rainy day driver.

Does the noise reduce when turning either way??

The noise stays reletively the same while turning at speed. But when I slow down and drive it, the noise subsides and turning does not effect the noise. It stays at the same tone depending on the speed I am traveling.

I'll be looking into the wheel barings possibility a little more, thanks for the tip Chunk/Crazy. I'll keep this thread posted if I find a cause. Or if my wheels fall off...i may not respond for some time!
