EDIT, USE IT IF YOUR CAR IS A TRACK ONLY CAR

2 weeks ago I went to a big track, after a lot of laps, my gearbox started to make noise when I shifted gears, I was very very sad because I thought my gearbox was having some issues, and this happened to me on Saturday and the race was on Sunday.

Well a friend sold me this gearbox oil, it was the only that I found at the track. Well surprise! the noise was gone, and the I could shift through gears smoothly :bow: and was able to handle a 16 lap race without any problems.

I recommend this oil to anyone, specially if they use the car at the track in a hot climate :nice:

In the back of the bottle you can read this:

100 % synthetic extreme pressure lubricant specially formulated for gearboxes and limited slip differential gears of racing cars (Track, Rally). Excellent at high temperatures.

Well... this is totally true :nice:

hey RVM, i actually gave the oil u suggested a try.
not bad for normal street usage. have yet to test on a track.

btw, jst wanna check. when is the next interval to change the gear oil? i heard some say 30k km some 50k km.

so which is more accurate?

I disagree with that,

I change my gearbox oil every 4000 - 5000 km, I change the gear box oil every 2 engine oil serivces.

I do this since I only use my car for the track. If my car was a daily drive, I will change it every 3 engine oil services. Every 10,000 km.

This is just my personal opinion :nice:

hoho.. soo often wan ah.. ehhm... i guess i'll try out tis oil first.. den after my next service, try the motul mineral lsd oil. see the difference.

how often do u service ur engine oil?

i do mine like.. every 5K/ tats around near to 2 months. cos i travel around often.

is this friendly to honda synchros and at same time suitable for clutch plate diffs ?

whats difference between this V motul 300 gear oil and MOTUL 90 PA LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL FLUID

lads don't recommend this for an everyday car especially with only small commutes this oil takes a while to get up to temp and doesn't work well from cold, this is an all out track gear oil not for everyday use guys,
I won't use motul gear 300 75w90 either with a clutch type diff it's not made for them and can shorten the life of it,
i have tried both of these in my own car both were excellent once up to temperture and i have a clutch type diff with gear 300 my diff slapped and banged, i do alot of short distances so the box near really got up to temp unless i was on track or doing a long drive and that's were both oils come into there own,
i am now using motul pa90 with honda mtf works a treat from cold and no slapping and banging from diff anymore
for a standard honda transmission with standard lsd or without, i recommend motul motlygear 10w40 works great from cold and is good for track too

ive spent last few hours reading motul specs on each of its gear oils and came to conclusion only oil suited to honda synchros with plated diff was gear ff competition BUT how it worked cold was my main concern and youve just addressed that baz so looks like i wont be using motul for my gear oil (makes sense anyway as really a race/heavy use oil)

the 90PA was only other that seemed to meet my requirements but unclear as to its compatability with honda synchros so im still unsure with it and dont think it has any friction modifier in it, just wondering if blending it with little honda mtf 3 and tiny bit of friction modifier may be worth a try

oilman suggested silkolene syntrac 5 and after read at seems to tick every box so may give that a try now, if diff is bit noisy then ill just buy some friction modifier and add a tiny bit

had my heart set on motul competition ff type 2 but only available in few far eastern countries so bit of headache importing but seems absolute top notch, only concern would be how it works when cold but in motul spec it states it works well from cold

another mix i used which is great from cold is honda mtf and silkolene boa90 has friction modifier and is made especially for aftermarket lsd's

As baz said, guys that car was a my track only car! not a daily drive! don't use this gearbox oil if yours is a daily drive.

looked at the silkolene boa90 and not to sure about it, doesnt seem its suited honda synchros (guess thats where mixing honda mtf comes in) and no mention of cold operation

i ended up ordering some silkolene Syn 5 today as ticks all the right boxes (suited to honda synchros and plated diff which is hard to achieve), apparently works well cold and good at high temps ie track and some has some fricition modifier in it

im gonna run it neat and then blend others in there dependant on how the diff reacts and how box feels in mornings (ill just mix some mt3/friction modifier as required if needed)

im still gonna try and import some of that motul ff type 2 as seems best in my eyes but again that may need little mixing
