Legally there is 10% duty and 17.5% VAT to pay on the ones from Nengun which puts them way above the UK going rate for these engine mounts.
Japanese list price is 32,000 JPY exc taxes which at today's rate is £222.22. Nengun are charging £251.79 + shipping which is around £330. Add duty, customs fees and VAT onto that and you are talking over £430.00. We only charge £322 + air freight surcharges inc VAT.
Japanese prices always look cheap. Exporting from Japan means they don't charge you consumption tax (5%). A good example is a brand new FD2 was little over £13,000 in January this year to buy in Japan. But the UK OTR price was £22,995! And thats with a UK dealer making minimal profit.
HM Customs charges are there to protect UK businesses which ultimately drive our economy and keep people in jobs. Trying to avade taxation is illegal and will ultimately put more and more people out of jobs in the UK. A few of our customers bought direct and got stung for taxes, some even had items held until they provided adequate proof that the items were bought at such a low price.
If HM Customs and revenue smell BS that engine mounts only cost you £35 YOU are held responsible and can be fined heavily. And im not talking £200 either. Its just not worth it.
