mugen or spoon ecu?

i am going to buying an ecu for my car, i can get a spoon one or a mugen one for a good price which one shud i go for i don hav anything done to inside the engine but hav a bit off other stuff done, a full spoon system wit a de-cat a cold air intake and a skunk 2inlet manifold...Cheers

i'll go for spoon, but do you have access to a dyno to see if you gain something? that would be the best thing to go!

go first to the dyno with your stock ecu, and then go with the spoon ecu (or mugen) what ever you decide, let us know if you felt any difference!

Just remember any spoon/mugen ecu you get will have been mapped and set up for another car with different modifications to your own, so if you do buy one make sure you know somewhere you can get it remapped and set up for your own car

Best to get your local RR to do it becuase no matter if you have the same mods as another ek9 there is still slight differences in power etc

this is true but if dyno access is hard to come by in your area a phearable ecu is as exact as you can get without a dyno or street tune.

when you order an ecu from www.phearable.net you specify your exact set up, what redline you want, 2 step, cams, you compression ratio, injector size etc... and he makes a custom map for your specific setup

i run a phearable.net ecu, and i was able to shave off almost half a second in my 1/8 mile time, and my motor is completetly stock, i just have a comptech race exaust! i'll try to go to the 1/4 mile track soon too see how much i gain

Someone was selling a heap of different chips including spoon, mugen etc. He said in his tests, MUGEN was quickest.

what motor and combination of parts did he test them on though? i think the best option really is a fully tuneable ems or something from phearable were you can order new chips as you continue to upgrade your car.

if you have a full mugen set up then sure you could run the mugen chip, but i thinkyou would still get more power with a fully programable ems.

But in some places, it's hard to trust... so just buy pre-programmed.
